Well, they aren't the worst.

People who [sincerely] sit around worrying about whether or not someone else went to the school they pull for are pretty much the worst.

The ONE positive of being a shitty football team is that sidewalk fans are scarce. Take Ole Miss, for example.

We were there from basically 1996-2007. Might have had a blip in 99, 02, and 05 but other than that, Bama was shiz. The day that rah-tard Aubie QB pranced around with that big #6 in his hands was the day I almost lost it (that and getting beat down by Southern Miss in 2000).

Lets have a survey and find out. Would be very telling of said posters.

There is no such thing as a sidewalk fan in Arkansas. Most people cheer for the Hogs because they were born here. We don't have a lot of bandwagon fans.

Last time Ole Miss had a sidewalk fan, he had his own separate water fountain.

Sidewalk fans are bad if they are also bandwagon fans--backing a team just because they are doing well and not because it's how they were raised or they have some other tie to the school.

Sidewalk fans are also bad when they start talking shite about academics. If a sidewalk fan of school A talks about how bad the academics are at school B, then they are fricking retarded and should bathe with a plugged in toaster.

I've seen it happen and got me slightly rustled.

People who don't play for the team and believe someone is less of a fan because they didn't attend the school they cheer for are absolutely fricking retarded.

If sidewalk fans didn't exist, there would be a lot less fans at EVERY game.

I mean, why in the frick would someone cheer for a school they didn't attend?

I take it you weren't a college football fan prior to enrolling?

I dont like sidewalk fans because they generally are the ones screaming in your face about how good their team is, but.... without them you wouldn't pack the stadium and sell as much merchandise. So they are needed even though they usually suck

fricking this. I don't know anyone that cheers for some random high school team that they didnt attend. Another thing, cheer for the school you attend. I can't tell you how many Bama fans I went to school with at Auburn. Wtf?

Particularly ironic coming from an Alabama fan.

It is just perfect that a Bama fan is defending sidewalk fans.

Both of my parents have several degrees- none of which came from the University of Alabama, but respectable schools in their field nonetheless. Both are, and have always been, Alabama fans.

Wonder if their child is one of the players on the team, but the parents never attended the school? I guess you think that they shouldn't be fans also. You need to think about it before you judge people.
