Auburn's accreditation only became in jeopardy in the first place after some Auburn people contacted SACS to complain about Lowder

Serious question for the Alabama people: why is Paul Bryant Jr on the U of A BOT at all? I would understand his involvement with the athletic department, but the BOT is primarily tasked with the actual university and its functions, yes? Having an athletics-first individual as the President of the BOT seems like a pretty clear case of the tail wagging the dog, no?

Auburn people criticized Lowder for years
Yes, once he started fricking things up in the athletic department and the university's accreditation was being threatened.

OTOH, you hear absolutely nothing negative about baby bear from anyone at bama and he is still very much on their board
Alabama's academics and athletic department are doing well measured by performance and financially. Why would we criticize the board for that?

Kind of illustrates the differences between the schools. One of them is happy to go along with any amount of corruption and one of them is not
What corruption?

Link to Lowder ever having any criminal charges brought against him? Baby bear has business partners that have been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for insurance fraud and other crimes. A lot of people think he only avoided similar charges because of his last name
quote:I remember the day the Fed's pulled into the Colonial parking lot - I'd never seen anything like it. They loaded up tons and tons of computers, files, laptops and all sorts of shite. Those fed officials acted like asses to all those employees.
Lowder retired 4 months before his bank folded and had to be taken over.. 3 of his executives at Colonial Bank ended up in jail..

Why do this many people care about this stupid article? AL.com has been producing absolute garbage recently. It is all race baiting and UAB stuff.

Wait...so business people actually conduct business with people they know and trust? Shocking. Almost every community bank board is similar. Nobody in the Alabama media cared when Bobby Lowder stacked the Colonial Board with people in his network.
This is such a farce and proves that the whole #FREEUAB fad is simply a passive aggressive way to take swings at UA.
Not really, Auburn had the exact same corrupt set up with the BoT. It took public pressure and litigation for them to even consider cleaning up.
I also do not think the students who started FreeUAB wanted to take swings at UA -- they just wanted their programs back and do not trust the UAB President.
Honestly, UAB wants the President gone... the Board of Trustees are the only ones who can do that. Finebaum said the other day that he thought the board would eventually tell him to step down once the heat dies down, once the lightning rod is gone, I think you will see a lot less focus on UA BoT.

You got to love bammers revisionist history. Constantly bring up Aubur's academic probations but too dumb to know the investigation that led to said probation was actually initiated by some Auburn people themselves. Raises even more questions of why nobody at bama complains about baby bear

That's why I asked the question that I did. I'm not familiar with Bryant Jr other than his name, which carries the insinuation of football-first.
It was a legitimate question.

Lowder was criticized because Auburn fans felt like his meddling was a reason Auburn's athletic department was in shambles and the University's accreditation was about to be snatched from it. No reason for Bama fans to criticize "baby bear".
Exactly. Auburn alum were pissed at Lowder because he was fricking up the school. Bryant is not fricking up the school. By all accounts the school is doing great right now. What should we be complaining about?

You still have not said what we should be complaining about with academics and athletic programs in good shape and financially sound.
I feel sorry for you by the way. I can't imagine living my life so consumed with paranoia, anger, and jealousy.

Funny you bring up those links to deflect. It is not about who was/is more corrupt. One article is written today! Another was written yesterday. This story is news.
Simple question, why not just give more representation to UAH and UAB on the BoT?
It would not be enough to override votes, but would probably appease the other campuses under the umbrella.

The University is currently in the best financial, academic, and athletic era in the probably the entire history of the school. The growth in infrastructure, enrollment, funding, donations, endowments, revenue from athletics is at an all time high right now.
What the hell do UA students/faculty/staff/alumni have to complain about?
Posted on 3/27/15 at 10:26 am to elposter
The idea that Auburn people only complained about Lowder because the school was in shambles is more Bammer revisionist bs. Some Auburn people complained about Lowder for years even when Auburn was ranked much higher academically than what bama was ranked

Serious question: How does several members having a vested interest in the success of a bank introduce a conflict of interest with respect to the treatment of UAB or UAH?

That wasn't an attempt to deflect anything. That was an attempt to show Phannie how silly he's being with his sweeping generalizations and flat out ridiculous comments that don't generate any real discussion.
The article written today doesn't outline any corruption at all. It was also published by AL.com. The article I linked was written and published by the New York Times.
