Amid budget cuts and an anticipated 7.4 percent drop in enrollment, leaders at the University of Missouri-Columbia are expecting to trim about 400 positions.
Most of the jobs would be cut through attrition, with fewer than 100 layoffs projected. Interim Mizzou chancellor Garnett Stokes announced the budget details at a campus forum Monday.
Mizzou has already said it is expecting its smallest freshman class in two decades. The enrollment drop discussed Monday is the first estimate pertaining to the school’s entire enrollment.
Day-um Mizzou ... I'm almost starting to feel sorry for y'all mizzourites and the mizzoury y'all are having to endure.
Then ... nah, that feeling of empathy goes away and the snickering kicks in again.
Yankees gonna yankee - we're going to end up having to help you dig out of this one I guess. :::::::sheesh::::::: what a pain in the arse bunch of trouble y'all have been for the conference so far.
Keep your heads down, nose to the grindstone, stay out if trouble, don't keep doing things that bring un-due attention to yourselves and, who knows, one day this may pass.

Meanwhile, Missouri State set an enrollment record this school year and saw a 3.8% increase from the previous year
They're also coming off of a sweep in baseball and fielded the better basketball team this year.
Is Mizzou becoming the little brother in the state of Missouri?

Wait, what?

Delicate situation that was going to take sharp and immediate turns based on how the MU admin handled it... results speak for themselves.
The way to handle it was to never let it get to that point. Talk, but behind closed doors. FWIW, most of this lands squarely on Loftin's doorstep. He may have been the pied piper that got A&M into the SEC, but he screwed this up at MU royally.

Hope we all learned from it.
Agreed. As I said, tempting to wish this on all you second-guessing bashers, but this isn't something you wish on your worst enemy. Don't really like the self-important social media world we now live in, but no going back.

Doubt you'll be able to say the same this season.

Wow! Did not know that. 3.8% is a huge jump. Very telling.

Agreed. The Big X didn't dog Penn State this much for the worst scandal in history. It's an internal thing that will change MU forever. I just hope we never experience anything like that at UK.

What does that feel like, being a lifelong little brother yourself to Clemson?

I almost - not really - hope one or more of your fine institutions winds up facing something like this one of these days. Yes, MU's administration handled this terribly, but there really wasn't a 'good' way to handle it. This is 2015/2017. Do you honestly believe that you can just 'clear the quad.' There are lots of snowflakes on all your campuses, too, both as students and faculty, and you'd better hope they don't get their panties in a wad over some real or perceived injustice because there's no good way to get them to quietly go away. They know the cameras are rolling, and they all want their 15 minutes of fame, and to feel like they're doing 1960's era social change, which they're not. So have your fun, bash MU every so often. But there but for the grace of God go you.
LSU had a flag burner visit several years back. He was an LSU alumnus but lived in Missouri. He was attempting to send a message as to why a current student shouldn't have been punished for burning the American flag since it was a method of invoking his 1st amendment rights.
Students showed up in force to prevent his form of protest. While non-violent in nature he earned the piss thrown on him. He then was escorted away by BR police after never even getting a single moment to evoke "his right."
His main argument was it was a right of the 1st amendment. Well, the student in trouble stole the flag and then burned it. Theft isn't covered by the 1st amendment.
The point is he brought a bunch of snowflakes from Missouri with him to protest. Your state is a breeding ground for these crybabies.

Maybe, but you wouldn't step to our face and run your mouth, otherwise you'd be unconsious with your mouth wrapped around a curb.

Communication failure for sure, hard to analyze this situation from the outside due to "can't negotiate with insanity" and it became clear the key parties were acting insane.
What's your feedback on Loftin's mishandling? overall feedback as it relates to response from the admin? Lessons galore to learn from this situation.

Sure there is. Students tried to occupy OSU library and the administration threatened to arrest and expel all of them if they didnt leave. They left

So you would curb stomp me because I have a different opinion?
Don't even get me started on the little Hillary supporter that cried Racism not once but twice at LSU. First one was her being naive and race baiting. When proven wrong she tried to form some excuse of LSU not being safe. Then last Halloween she took it a step further. It was never proven, but all the evidence is there to allege she was the perpetrator in her claim. She had a door decoration that looked like a ghost on her apartment door. She then posted in an outrage on twitter that someone had desecrated her decoration and wrote a racist message. The OT got ahold of her handwriting from twitter and pretty much proved it was all her. Hillary Clinton even made a comment about how awful and that no one should be subjected to such hate. Despite saying she was filing a police report, one was never filed. The whole claim was completely dropped. Probably best for her future.
I'd be willing to bet that poop swastika was of similar origin.

Really some reasonable minds up there in YANKEE land aka MISSOURI. Yall are a joke.
What we need are Mizzou hunting permits that "expire when Mizzwho LEAVES THE SEC"

Well I'm glad you highlighted your point, because I was really struggling to find it otherwise.
LINK Just one NOLA article, but failing to see where this was a Missouri snowflake invasion of BR. In fact, this indicates that the dude, while from Missouri, was not only a LSU alum but a then-current LSU graduate student and - since teaching classes - presumably a TA. So he didn't come down from Missouri to protest; he was already on your campus.
