Would adding GTech intensify the rivalry between them and Georgia? I have a good friend who went to UGA and honestly doesn't give two shits about them until they play. Hates Florida way more than Georgia Tech and he grew up near the Atlanta region.

I don't really ever pay attention to the game either because I expect UGA to win pretty convincingly. So do you think this could help out if they were added?

Would be fine with me but honestly GT is a better fit in the ACC.

I see us adding a West Virginia or VATech before GaTech.

Much like the LSU-Tulane rivalry, I would imagine the Georgia-GT rivalry is stronger and more passionate between the older alums.

Nobody asked Georgia Tech to leave the SEC in 1963.

Tech should never be asked back.

We win a lot of the games with Tech, but rarely is it convincing. I am hoping that Kirby will use our natural advantages and finally step on the nerds necks once and for all.

however do you know if these schools (UGA, South Carolina, Florida) have certain entitlements to usurp the remaining SEC schools?

I was under the impression it took some sort of conference vote to add additional teams

Has to be unanimous I believe.

Personally, I think we stay put unless we can get UVA and UNC. Two new states, two new markets, both great schools with very solid athletic departments.

Doubt either one would leave unless the ACC dissolved, so basically I think we should stay put. A consolation would be Va Tech and West Virginia.

Why not?

Why would you want a key rival from your state to join the same conference as you. It doesn't benefit those schools in any way.

The SEC isn't doubling up in states with less than 20 million people. And it's not taking teams in small markets that would be below average in everything.

VTech would be a nice add but the ACC just signed a long GOR extension so that's not happening.

The SEC is probably staying right where it is for the next 20 years unless OU can break away from its little brother.

I always see that with the scores, but I rarely come into thinking "this is going to be a great game" when I see G-Tech and UGA on. I always expect UGA to win. Even if you guys don't, I don't see how G-Tech fans can even talk shite. UGA is 20-5 vs them since 1990. The dominance goes back even further, but we get the point.

Just from an outsiders perspective, I see it as G-Tech wanting to really beat UGA, but UGA just really not wanting to lose to them. If that makes any sense.

I think it could be a really intriguing rivalry though if Tech really commits to becoming a better program. It would be awesome if they joined the SEC.

Georgia would never allow it. Just like South Carolina would never allow Clemson or Florida allow Florida St.

This. Plus the SEC would never even allow it. No school from a state that already has an SEC team will be added. There's no reason for it.
