I know he wouldn’t have to distract from the players and playoffs in general but could have been just enough to get a little extra motivation to send coach out right? We will never know! :(

I think Nick Saban earned the right to retire whenever the frick he good and felt like it. How you frickers are ANYTHING but grateful blows my mind.

No. But if Tommy Rees could have coached and schemed a QB with Olympic speed, it would have been nice.

With the portal dates as well as the early NSD, there is no longer a good time to retire without a resulting clusterfeck.

I am convinced that ESPN and some members of the CFP committee knew long before the official announcement.

The FSU controversy was bad enough without pouring on any additional fuel to the fire.

Best time would between the SECCG and bowl games/CFP.

Your early signees have already signed so will give a new coach the benefit of the doubt and the portal is open for everyone.

Bingo. Besides, he even said that 5 minutes before he was to meet with the team he had changed his mind. He had earned the right to go absolutely whenever he felt like it.
