One more time. Switch everything. If LSU had UA's season (home loss 9-6 and schedule), would they have gotten in?
Everything else being equal last year I would say yes, LSU would get in over an Oklahoma State with little nationwide clout the same would not have held true if it was Oklahoma not Oklahoma State in the equation.
Point being Alabama have much more national "shine" than Oklahoma State

Honest question. Do you think LSU has enough "shine" to pull it off? UA, ND, UT, tOSU...would LSU have enough to get in there if the roles were reversed last year?
I've said many times I don't think LSU would have gotten in if we had lost that game. Even by the same score ya'll did. LSU doesnt have the national prominence or history that Alabama has. Also the media doesn't respect Miles like they do Saban.

I strongly disagree.

I understand why most of you would strongly disagree, but he does have a good point about one thing ... the media coverage of Saban and Miles. Perception affects people's views and opinions, hence probably affects the voters to some degree. Granted, I think LSU would have gotten in, but not the same odds as Alabama getting in. In the end, it really doesn't matter, does it?

This has more to do with Oklahoma State being a nobody on the national stage in so far as "buzz" than it does the media's like or dislike of Saban or Miles
If the question is does LSU have the shine to leap frog a USC or Penn State when another SEC is already seated at # 1 in 2012 the answer is no
If the question is did 2011 LSU have enough clout to get the number spot in the NCG over Oklahoma State after a 9-6 loss to Bama the answer is yes

If lsu beats bama this year it will make 3/4 for the tigers. Will nick Saban be on the hot seat for losing at such a rapid rate to les miles?

What would that make CLM's overall record against Bama, if he were to lose? After you answer that, hopefully you'll figure out how dumb your comment was!

No, not with the statue and weekly services being held there.

You're making your fan base look even stupider than it already is.

Not going to happen. But what difference would it make if they lost to Alabama, Ole Miss, or Arkansas? Why would just a loss to Alabama matter? But, like I said, they don't concern me this year. Last year they proved they were at least as good as us. We will be a better team, they will be a worse team in 2012.

I think the Tigers would have made it anyway last year because of there quality of wins.Im not sure if they played the teams the Tide played if maybe Okie lite would not have been ahead of them.

Excellent question.

To the dumbares Gump talking about shine. We have more shine than we did in '07.
Most of the 'shine being consumed is by Bama sidewalk fans.

Then the record will be 9-4 in the Aughts and Les will be down one game to Nick and hopefully you won't be opposed to a rematch in the BCS Championship.

Na, we will get a do over and beat Bama 21-0. Bama will have less than 100 yards of total offense. Order re restored.

Saban could lose to Miles for the rest of his career and it wouldn't matter worth a damn so long as crystal keeps coming in.
Oh, and again..crystal counts even with a loss to Miles in the regular season...

I think the seat could get scorching hot for Les Miles.
yes it would...if stupid, emotional, ranter sports board posters ran the lsu athletic department.
but, they don't. so, miles will be fine. he is a good, proven coach. lsu isn't getting rid of him anytime soon.
