Bingo. Talent or depth, now.

Auburn should have hired some players that could tackle, shed blocks, and cover.
Poor coaching and development is STILL going on at AU. Folks blamed Chizik for the same shite we are seeing from Malzhan. Poor fundamentals, soft on the lines, players that lacking motivation, etc.

Attrition and terrible player development on the Dline has killed the AU defense.

No, I'm not. I expect Muschamp to have a very good D in the next couple of years, but not at the highest levels he has had before.

Dan Quinn and DJ Durkin were responsible for much of Muschamp's defensive success during his tenure at Florida, Quinn especially. But to answer the question... yes.

Muschamp hasn't been a D coordinator since he was at Texas. Texas is still in shambles.

His first D coordinator was D. Quinn, who went to Seattle and their D took them to the Super Bowl title. He is now the head coach at the Falcons.

Quinn's right hand man at Florida, Durkin, took over and he is now pitching shutouts at Michigan.

Meanwhile, Muschamp went to Auburn and made a bad defense much worse.

This can't be repeated enough. We just aren't talented enough on our front seven.

I am happy with Muschamp. The defense is improving, but need more talent... basically have two defensive linemen.. His best game we gave up 17 to MSU, but Gus cost us that game.

Before the season, opposing fans: Muschamp will be a head coach in a year.

Please link any idiots that said Mushchamp would be a head coach in a year. I'd like to publicly ridicule them. Thanks.

There were quite a bit of them. everyone wonder why would hire a DC that would be gone after a year. AU expected at least 2

Both of Muschamps DCs have done good after leaving him. If the problem at Auburn is the players like a lot of people are saying then we should here anyone expect Auburn to be any good for a few years. I don't think he has even been able to improve on what the defense did last year.

Anyone that said that was quite ignorant IMO.

One year from crushing UF wasn't going to be enough of a cushion unless it was a lower tier team like Jax State.

I'll tell you who we shouldn't have hired, your mom off the Lexington Backpage for "entertainment" at our tailgate this weekend. I'm still itching.

After the FLA stint + this defense performance at AU this year....he may not get another shot at HC for a long while.

I think Auburn will likely have him till they realize they don't want him.

Did a lot of Auburn fans think he would improve the defense this year. I thought all the talk was that he only had to get them to be average with the offense as good as it is. Now he has no talent to work with

Auburn should have let Muschamp hire Lawing instead of keeping fricking Garner.

Why in the world would AU not allow Muschamp to hire whoever he wanted for his defense?
