How about let's not judge between 2 first year coaches. One which has only been gone a year so he had all his same players for his system.

Don't want Gus.

He walked into a great situation at Auburn, he wouldn't have at Arkansas.

We would have still sucked and our fan base would be going ape shite for hiring him.

With Auburn's track record Gus will be fired by 2016.

I still predict Bielema will get his style of player and once he gets rolling, Arkansas will be an 8-4/10-2 team every year, with a few years here and there when we'll compete for the SEC championship.

i don't ever remember giving a shite about auburn honestly. i don't like gus, i wouldn't like gus if he coached at alaska. most of you all have been pretty dickly towards the hogs for a good while now. you can blame it on preseason or whatever and that is fine but it doesn't change the fact that you've been dickly, too.

i do have faith in bb- i'm definitely not going to say oh we sucked this year so he sucks. that would be completely stupid. we got burned pretty hard with petrino tho so maybe we don't defend bb hard enough to satisfy some but it doesn't mean that we (or i since i'm really just talking for myself) don't have faith.

Exactly. And they don't seem to remember Petrino's first shitty year. The casual fans drive me insane...so much so, I stop arguing. It will play itself out.

I think Malzahn is a good coach but I think we made a good hire and everyone will see in due time.

What Hog fans are you talking about? Hogville?

On here, the handful of Arky fans I know, etc. The vibe I get is "We'll see on Bert, we're not that happy with him but we're not convinced it won't work. But **** Gus, he's a trickster and a scoundrel, Auburn will rue the day they got him. He's a disaster waiting to happen, a plague on the school!!!!"

It's insane.

Well he certainly didn't have the best player on the team anymore.

Gus has proven he's a better coach in just a year. Auburn will continue to be competetive now. Arkansas will be lucky to get back to the Petrinoesque days within 5 years.

Yeah, it was. But the coincidence is that AU's talks with Fisher burned completely out around the time Bielema and Arky got it wrapped up.

People always talk about the four candidates Long interviewed. Gundy, Patterson and of course Bielema, but people think the 4th was Petersen. It was Gus.

While things have been great for AU with Malzahn this year, we need to wait 5 years to see how things shake out for both teams. Malzahn's job was "easier" than CBB, as pointed out, by the fact that he had recruited a lot of the current players at Auburn to run the system he runs. CBB is changing the entire offense, which takes time. Time will tell.

I call BS. Hog fans on here are very supportive of CBMFB. You must be talking about HawgAlude AKA WarAlude.

Mason was their best player last year, Bro Namath.

Malzahn and Briles would have both been so much better for them.

We have, but I think that is in response to the idea that after Auburn's bad year, suddenly Auburn and Arkansas were on even footing and we had Arky fans talking about how it was their expectation that they'd finish above Auburn 4/5 years. No offense to Arkansas, which has a competitive program, but they're not the same. Moreover, Arky fans, for whatever reason, seem fond of Alabama.

Personally, I've never liked Arkansas simply because you've ruined our season several times. But, the animosity now seems much more personal, and I still don't really get it.

Hey look, someone who gets it.

Anyone who attempts to undercut what Gus did this year is an idiot. By the same token, anyone who attempts to ignore Bielema's track record or what he walked into is a moron of the highest order.
