Thankfully the NCAA has banned any more bowl games from being created. But none of the 41 bowl games that already exist have been forced to dissolve yet. So unfortunately there may end up being more 5-7 teams who go to bowls in the future. Based on the same APR rules.

There are some people in the NCAA who apparently want to make 7-5 the bowl threshold rather than 6-6. Which yes would require some already existing bowl games to dissolve. Boo hoo for the Birmingham or Miami Beach bowl.

I agree with this idea of upping the bowl threshold.

By keeping this rule, it has scared every SEC AD, except for Bama's, from supporting a 9 game conference schedule . Hence, instead of say, more Florida -Bama games or Georgia - LSU games or Auburn - Tennessee games, we are treated to more Bama- Chattanooga games, etc.
It sucks in the long run to have to have a certain record to play a bowl game. I say just allow the top X number of teams in the conference that go to bowls.

If a sponsor wants to pay for it, I think it is a great opportunity for the players.

Fantasy pick 'em changed my perspective

6-6 teams going to a bowl is a joke. I love watching college football....but 7-5 and better should be the rule.

And how some of the new lower tier bowls stay in business is a mystery. I saw some last year with the stadiums less than half full. I know sponsors by a lot of the bills....but still.

They've made making a bowl a completely meaningless "achievement"

You can go 2-6 in conference and make a bowl, it's completely ridiculous.

If they wanna keep 6-6 teams making bowls, fine. But I don't wanna hear any dumb arse fans bragging about making these bowls like their teams actually accomplished anything.

Throughout most of history you had to be a conference champion or a highly ranked team to make a bowl. That's why making a bowl was meaningful and why it isn't any longer.

This. It blows my mind that some of you want to watch less football at the end of the season.

Does it matter, really? It's not hurting anyone, and you're perfectly free to look askance at their season. I'm sure most of them are perfectly aware that fans of more successful teams don't have any respect for a 6-6 bowl team.

When it comes to CFB, there are many more important places to start taking a stand on principle than some mediocre football team's activities in late December.

People are so caught up in whether or not a team is "deserving" that they forget there are actual people playing these games and that extra bowl games allow them to continue living their dream. It's ridiculous that people want to take that away from them.

I have no opposition to more football games being played. I wouldn't support any move to reduce the number games I et to enjoy in mid-late December.

I personally think it should be 8–4, maybe even 9–3.

No, 7-5 teams (unless they somehow win their conference) aren't even deserving of bowl berths. Too many damn bowls now days.

Always yes to more football. If someone doesn't think they should have them, then just don't watch the games

I prefer 7-5 too. Bowls have gotten ridiculous. Plain out cash grabs.

I especially think they should just prohibit 5-7 teams from going to bowls altogether. When there weren't enough bowl eligible teams last year the NCAA should have just forced one or two bowl games to cancel.

Who cares? Don't watch a game with a 6-6 team if you don't want to.
