Shaw vs. Manziel: Who is faster?

According to Rivals, Shaw and Manziel are almost mirror images of each other, each listed with 4.53 speed in the 40. Shaw is slightly bigger at 6'2" 195lbs; Manziel is listed at 6'1" 193.

Well Johnny is right at 6 foot and is faster than a 4.5. His shuttle would also be pretty dirty. Either way, if Johnny gets an open lane and a defender doesn't have a good angle, he won't be caught. That is as fast as he needs to be. Shaw might have faster speed at the 70 yard split point with a slightly longer stride due to his build. Who knows?

I don't know if he's faster, but while he doesn't look it, Driskel ran a legit 4.5 at an Under Armour combine. So while Shaw and Manziel are way shiftier, I'm not sure either beats Driskel by much in a straight line race.

Rivals lists Driskel at 4.52.

Straight line speed is easily as fast as these two. This is probably THE REASON he was named #1 dual threat QB coming out of HS. However, we know football isnt played on a track. Manziel is shift and quick in addition, which makes for a better scrambler. BUT, Top end speed Driskel keeps up with 30 more lbs of body weight. Ask Vandys DBs who couldnt run him down from one step behind

Both are fast. Manziel's stats are about to take a major hit once he starts playing the meat of the schedule, and everyone will get off his damn jock.

I get a really weird, kinda creepy vibe about the way the A&M guys talk about Manziel. Its borderline ghey. Either way, if he makes it through this season without at least one concussion, I will be amazed.

Driskel reminds me a lot of Tannehill. Both are big guys with very good straight line speed. Driskel actually gets up to speed really fast and I am quite impressed with his mobility.

In a foot race, Driskel is about as fast as Manziel and Shaw...he blew past DB's in a straight line race to the endzone in the last game. As far as shiftiness goes, Manziel and likely Shaw are more shiftier, but Driskel has size going for him. He dwarfs both of them. If he starts gaining more confidence in his passing ability, he could be great.

Denard Robinson would torch both of these guys, since we're adding people to the conversation.

Kind of like the way LSU fans talked about TM7 last year?

Rag on Aggies gushing about Manziel but they really aren't the worst about it, some sportswriters unaffiliated with A&M are the ones who started the Heisman talk. Besides, you are lying if you wouldn't be as excited to see a Freshman making the plays Manziel is making. It's not like LSU fans didn't worship Honey Badger last year or Florida fans didn't consider Tebow a gift from God. It's true he hasn't done it against LSU or Bama yet and honestly I would be surprised if he had more than half his stats he put up last week but the guy is just fun to watch. Seriously, watch just those 2 highlights I posted and tell me that dude isn't a freak.

No way does Manziel run a 4.5 btw. He hasn't been caught from behind this year and he has gotten in the secondary quite a bit. Last year under Sherman he would pair guys with the closest 40 times together in training so that they would push each other to race and he was paired with Cyrus Gray. Gray ran a 4.41 for the NFL tryout. I'd say that is probably about accurate for Manziel, 4.4-4.45. It is true though that his real strength though is his ridiculous body control and shiftiness combined with the speed. Lots of guys can run fast but not many can break ankles like Manziel, he seems to have at least one or two guys grabbing for air or falling to the ground every time he gets into any space.

Driskel is a fantastic QB and a pretty good runner, but I hope you are trolling when you say that he is faster than Manziel and Shaw.

The heck? Did you watch Driskel against Vandy? He's just as fast as Manziel and Shaw...

Shaw is probably quicker and faster, but Johnny Football is impressive. His size makes him impressive as well.

They'll get to face-off against one another next season.
