In other words: Saban taught Kirby everything he knows, but he didn't teach him everything Saban knows.

And is this another reason for SC fans to hate Ray Tanner for letting Kirby get away and having to settle for Muschamp
Kirby was coming to SC but once uga offered he was headed home no matter what ray did...I'm a huge ray hater but this is a non issue

SCAR fans should be hoping Beamer does the same because his 'golly gee' persona and lack of ANY Coordinator experience would be concerning to any other fan base
It is here too

Too bad Kirby doesn't use Saban's barber.

Maybe he will if he ever needs to swoop it all around to try and hide a giant bald spot

Saben did not win his first Natty until his 10th year as a head coach.
Kirby is doing phenomenally well at UGA..

Damn, OP posted a simple quote from an SEC HC with a harmless, humorous tidbit and UGA got defensive as frick in this thread quickly.

Again, he also did not start at a school like UGA

Picturing Smart pasting an UGA logo over a Bama logo struck me as funny.
Why?
The Bama logo was copy/pasted over the LSU and MSU logo's, all non mouth breathers have understood this all along.

Kirby did the right thing. Whom else was he going to model his program off of ?

How long was Saban a HC before he won his first Natty?
Saban's first HC job was Toledo no UGA. Kirby needed to incorporate the best from Bama and institute his own ideas too. They are Bama lite and it shows in the results.

Kirby is not Saban, when Saban was a Toledo he wasn’t nearly as good as he is now. Like everyone, coaches develop and gain experience. There have been thousands of first time HCs. How may have played for 2 NCs, 4 SEC Championships, won an SEC, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Peach Bowl in their first 6 years?
Kirby’s first six years are among the most successful for any first time coach ever and among the best in the nation the last 6. Other than winning it all while facing the GOAT coach, he’s literally done everything else.

Do you think Kirby has led UGA to bad results? No team is Bama under Saban. No team will ever match that success.

This always amuses me. Football is an evolving sport. We had the Notre Dame box that eventually morphed into the triple option. The triple option evolved/morphed into the wishbone. The wishbone evolved/morphed into the veer and the veer evolved/morphed into the spread.
It will, as a whole, always be similar and programs have borrowed from other programs since the beginning of time.
Do you think Alabama/Saban invented the forward pass?
Saban borrows form others and Kirby Smart borrows from others....primarily from Saban since he spent so many years with him. It makes sense.
It happens in football. It happens in business. It happens in all walks of life.
I would be disappointed if Kirby Smart did not borrow ideas from the greatest coach that ever lived.
Seems like a good move to me.
Please explain how this is a bad thing?

No. he started at a program similar to Georgia, though.
MState won their title(AP) in 1952. They finished #1 in the Coaches poll in 1965.
Saban became HC at MState in 1995.
43 years difference in AP and 30 years in Coaches Poll. Seems very similar.

Wow. It's almost as if you looked and copied it from the top of this page.
Does everybody always just copy what some other poster said that seems clever?
