It was a win win for both sides. A&M (and JFF) brought a big audience for SECN. The SEC brought a glimmer of hope and some degree of national relevance to what had largely been a regional/state program.

That value will drastically drop if they don't find quality programming outside of football games.

Will football and basketball alone be enough to sustain the SEC Network?

It seems like it should work out that way.

After football season concluded, the SECN went into a state of obscurity.

They need more content on the network, IMO. I don't mind Finebaum, I think he engages the audience, does great interviews, and is more balanced than people give him credit for... But it's not enough for a whole network.

I wish I saw this for every school every week.

This is what happened in my household.

That's why Duke would be a great addition. Them and Kentucky could carry basketball season. Also would be cool if soccer got full scholarships, everyone got a team, and moved to the spring.

Imagine if we added North Carolina and Virginia to the conference.

I think that is everyones opinion.

You would be in the extreme minority in that opinion.

As for the show in general. 4 hours of anything that isn't a game is stupid. You could show two separate movies in that time span.

Granted, this comes to a Fox vs ESPN thing, but the B1G does pretty well with their programming. They have a much bigger variety of shows. I really enjoy their previews for each school. They also cover the other sports as well, something the SECN has failed at miserably.

Part of that is simply the conferences nature. They load up on football, and lack other quality sports programming.

Personally, I think it would be great if they did a profile on Mizzou and A&M so the average SEC fan might learn a thing or two about the schools and program history in all sports.

I think it is fair to say that a majority of SEC fans know very little about Missouri or A&M.

False.

In a world filled with DVRs and cord cutting the value of live college football games has never been higher. It is a reason for millennials to pay for cable, and it's live appeal is the only good reason anyone has to watch TV commercials anymore.

LSU knows enough. They ran away from us in the 90s when we shipped them like a rented mule.

That reminds me of Ole Miss' "The Season" Every week there is an episode recapping the previous game, filled with footage of things like interviewing players, and a focus on next weeks game.

They have it for football and Baseball as well. These would be great on the SECN, and if other schools had something similar I would watch it to better get to know them.

I'd watch that if available. I know next to nothing about Mizzou, and what little I know about aTm freaks me the frick out.

First off....not for second-tier games. Almost all your high value games get shipped to ESPN or CBS. Cable in general has its value dropping. College football games alone are not enough to drive an entire networks value. I'm sorry, that is just not the case.
