It was a shite show in Birmingham and they also played the game during the day

But if you can make the conditions more favorable why wouldn't you?

They use to have the Peach Bowl in December outdoors and the weather was horrible and they almost quit playing it. It's now become a NY6 game a hugely successful with the indoor move.

They aren't playing these games outside in a place where they could have bad conditions for the same reason they don't play the Super Bowl in Chicago or Boston.

Teams want to be able to plan for certain weather. The conferences want to have no variables. The fans, in general, would prefer not to sit in 43 degree rain as opposed to 72 degrees in a brand new stadium.

Could they play it outside if they had to? Sure. Is there any good reason to do it when you have other great options? No.

Nashville will be getting a new stadium within the next 10 years that will be a dome with retractable roof.

They are wanting to host a SB after having the draft a few years back

The town of Nashville is much nicer than ATL. Don’t have to worry about being shot, robbed or your car stolen like you do in ATL

The Dome didn't open until 1992, the first year of the SECCG. As soon as it was established as a better alternative to Legion Field, that game was never coming back to Birmingham. Sure, games are played outside...but why do it if there's a better alternative? It makes zero sense.

Let Nashville continue to grow for 10 more years. It's crime rate is already high. It's just not Memphis high

The first 2 SECCG was kicked off about in the same time slot it always has been played in. The sun was done down or well on its way by the time those games was over.

Again football is an outdoor sport. Some folks act like it can’t be played outside. If the NFL can play a late round playoff game in Green Bay, New England, or Buffalo in January then the SEC can do a championship game in early December outside. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing it brought on campus.

I mean I don't think anyone would die or anything, but they want the game to be in a predictable environment - administrators, fans, coaches, etc.

So that's where it's gonna be.

I don’t mind the big indoor stadiums but I have always like the idea of playing it on campus and the highest ranked team gets to host. Or have a different school host every year and give teams that have never been a chance to experience the atmosphere of it.

Also there's no way they'd have it in NO because of the Sugar Bowl- there'd be a 70% chance one of the two teams in the SECCG plays there in a span of 3 weeks. No one would show up

Plus the Superdome is a dump and they won't play outdoors in Nashville as well.

As if Nashville, Atlanta, Memphis, etc aren't cold in December. They aren't Green Bay or Chicago cold, but some people seem to think they are Miami or Orlando. You don't want to schedule a large, neutral, outdoor event in any of those 3 cities in December unless you have no other indoor option.
Atlanta is indoors.

It makes no sense to put our guys on the field in shitty conditions for a game that means little to nothing.

With more Western Schools and MONEY coming into play, I expect the SECG to at least rotate West. You better beleive A&M will be pushing to move Championship venues West and now we have the partners to do it.
