I do wonder why the median income in CS is so low... are they counting students and their shitty part-time jobs working for the university and bartending in this statistic? College Station is the affluent one of the twin cities. Bryan is the poor twin. As previously mentioned, there is no "break" between the two towns, they're intertwined. College Station is actually becoming a retirement super exurb of Houston. Cypress or the Woodlands isn't far enough out for some people and they are moving to CS now. Two couples in their mid 60's from the street I grew up on in Cypress moved to CS and my parents are moving to CS in the next year. None of them are Aggies, so that's not the reason. It's just a known as a clean community with plenty of amenities that's also close enough to Houston with the new highways for convenience, but far enough away from Houston to gain a buffer from the ever-expanding ghetto explosion. Those people don't have "incomes" per se - they live on their investments. I don't know enough to be able to say for sure, but I doubt that's counted as income for the sake of these statistics.

Perhaps, but of all of the SEC West cities, it's far from being the worst place to live, despite the crime. It's large enough that it has most all of the things that big cities have to offer, yet it still retains the college town vibe. People in BR love LSU, plain and simple.

In the city itself. You can drive just a few minutes from LSU and be out of the city of Baton Rouge.

The metro area which includes the booming neighboring parishes includes 800,000.

I bet at a normal LSU home game maybe 20% to 30% of the people in the stands live inside the city limits of Baton Rouge.
