I like how someone asked about the lack of blacks in CS and someone said "they're all in Bryan", but Bryan is still only 17% black.

This does bring up the conversation some Auburn folks like to have when comparing crime rates with Tuscaloosa. Sadly, the demographics do point to some reasons why there is a large difference. I'm actually surprised how small the percentage of African-Americans is in Auburn.

Worth noting that Starkville has somehow gotten poorer since 2000.

Basically, Starkville (Oktibbeha County) has long since been mismanaged by our elected officials. The only economic development in the county is done through the University. The county has never invested in running proper utilities to a good industrial site, thus our uneducated population has very limited employment opportunity. Neighboring counties (particularly Lowndes) have done an excellent job of taking the necessary steps to attract industry, so their uneducated population actually has employment opportunity. Starkville has a lot of mid-upper class people, but also a lot of dirt poor/government subsidized people who drag down the average income by quite a bit.

Also, looking at the population numbers of the SEC west cities, it is damn impressive that MSU and Ole Miss can bring 60K folks in for a football game. The rest of you should be ashamed only having 80-100K at a game.

BDS is still the fourth largest "city" in Alabama on any given Saturday in the fall.

Based on population numbers State and Ole Miss fans support their teams more than Bama. Deal with it.

Every game has been sold out since 1985.

I'm calling bullshite or number manipulation. Your stadium was not even full for a couple of games last year. I also went to some games there during the Shula era where it looked about half full.

It is based on tickets sales. And it probably goes back further than that, but 1985 is the first year records starting being kept.

That's just hard to believe. Are they counting all students? Local or not?

I thought Huntsville's population was closing in on 200,000?

You're right.

Birmingham 212,237
Montgomery 205,764
Mobile 195,111
Huntsville 180,105
[Bryant-Denny Stadium 101,821]
Tuscaloosa 93,357

If those top 3 cities keep losing people, it won't be long before Huntsville becomes the largest city in Alabama. That's hard to believe.
