I would bet there is 0.0% chance of Small appearing before Friday. Lemonis has been tight with Small's schedule all year.

So with my baseball insider knowledge, expect Ethan on the bump this afternoon

He went last Thur, right? He'll likely go this Thur too. A&M is doing the same thing with Dox. Full rest for the ace because this tourney doesn't matter near as much as a regional.

Just saw this

quote:

Paul Mainieri now 36-8 in the @SEC Tournament (5 of 8 losses by 1 run). His teams have now faced 4+ run deficits 6 times in Hoover - won 4 of those.

hell, he's won the damn thing 6 of the 11 times LSU has played in it since he's been the coach (excluding this year and 2011 given LSU didn't qualify). I don't know what it is about this tournament, but the team is always juiced to play and plays some of their best baseball. Would be nice if they'd carried that play over to the tournament that matters every year.

It really is, it's like we've always kicked it up an extra gear for the SECT under Mainieri. I guess getting them ready for the tournament and feels like the SECT is perfect for that. I can fault Mainieri for a lot, but he does well in Hoover for sure.

As I say that we now will go 0-2 today and tomorrow

I think we’ll beat Mississippi state but lose to Vanderbilt

yeah, a lot of people complain about us "trying" to win the SECT, but IMO, it prepares your pitching staff for the tournament. I have my own gripes about the format of all these things. You stucture your roster all season for three game weekend series, then you go to the wonky format in the SECT, then a double elimination 4 team tournament, then a 3 game series like normal, then back to a double elimination tournament in Omaha, then another normal 3 game set for the title. It just doesn't make it easy to have to change the way you manage so much so quickly and so differently than you've done for 3+ months all season. If I had it my way, the SECT would be just like basketball....everyone makes it, single elimination throughout, the higher the seed, the more byes you get. I also would move for best of 3 series the entirety of the CWS. The way i see it, the CWS lasts 12 days as is. If you had the round of 8, 4, and finals all starting 5 days apart, you could do 3 rounds of best of three series, all your 1-3 starters would get 5 days' rest b/t starts, and the entirety of the CWS would last 3 days longer, which isn't a big deal IMO. The way it is now, you lose just 1 game in Omaha, your entire pitching staff is screwed for the rest of the CWS.

I would just like us to win one more game here, whether that be against State tonight or the loser of the Auburn/Vandy game (so Auburn ). I think one more win in Hoover locks us into hosting, which is the most we have to gain at the SECT

What I want to happen: Start a midweek guy and get 10 run ruled by LSU and 10 run ruled the next game.
What's probably going to happen: Play til Sunday and waste every arm. State will still lose in the Championship game. That's the Mississippi State way.

I believe LSU advances to the CWS 50% of the time when they win the SEC tournament under Paul and of course they won a NC one year, lost in the NC game another year.

Most people value getting out of the SEC tournament quickly which I agree with for the most part (especially when you are hosting) but it really hasn't hurt LSU by looking at the years they won the SEC tournament.

Might be interesting to go deeper in those numbers and look for trends along winning the SEC tournament and NCAA tournament success.

Most of the years we've won the SECT, we've won all 4 games we've played, so the pitching staff wasn't killed. We also had midweek type guys have big performances at times. For instance, a rarely used starter threw a 1 hitter in the SECT 5 or so years back. What kills you is like us last year where we came out of the losers bracket to make the final and had to play 6 games in 6 days.

This Weber kid for A&M is their next big ace. The kid has some pretty good stuff.

Oh boy here we go. State fans already with the “we don’t care about the SECT” narrative

And how dumb as it is with double elimination just disappearing at the end of the tournament, just imagine it stretching to another game in some instances.

According to SEC website Georgia's LF has a .000 batting average. Is this a typo, or has he been injured or something?

I honestly don’t care, at all. Y’all talking about Manieri’s dominance in the SEC tourney. I had no idea. Because nobody cares.

If you are a lock for being a national seed in the post season, what is the benefit of trying to win this tournament and burn some arms?

No one really remembers who wins these imo. It’s much more impressive to win the SEC regular season.

There is none. Which is why we're throwing our #5 arm against LSU's Saturday starter.

Why should we? We're throwing our worst arm against your Saturday starter...I think it's evident we don't give a flying frick.
