Using basic logic, the SEC is getting at most 3 teams in the playoff and that's not even a guarantee. Unless 3 loss teams get in over some 1 loss ACC/Big 12 teams or 2 loss B1G teams. And that didn't happen last year.
Haven't caught up on the thread, but that Strength of Conference mechanic might be helpful for the SEC.

That is only half of it......
Attrition from injuries and wear and tear is going to be even worse with an extra conference game.
Miami and Notre Dame have a distinct advantage entering the playoffs.
All because ESPN cried to Sankey that they wanted more inventory.
The attrition is the problem. This is known to every fan or every program but it usually consists of "if so and so hadn't been hurt we don't lose". That means that you were not deep enough with sufficient talent to win. And it is absolutely true....injuries happen everywhere, but when you are playing against teams with loads of NFL talent, and every team in the SEC has some NFL talent and it is a large number of that talent at the top of the conference, injuries are more likely. Not season ending or career ending, those also happen, but injuries that slow a player down a little or reduces their athletic ability just a little. The top of the SEC still has more depth and talent than any conference....that depth is not as deep as it once was and when you couple that with an 8 game schedule against teams loaded with NFL talent it is a problem....add another game and its even bigger....

It hasn’t helped them in the past and it won’t this year. The 9 game conference schedule is only hurting the SEC not helping

of course it was and anyone with a brain recognized it. Making the schedule harder on yourself serves no logical purpose whatsoever. But hey- the people who complain about week 2 matchups against cupcakes got their wish for more tough games. Yay.
The season as a whole IS the fun part. The big matchups are the fun part. The story week to week and race to make Atlanta is the fun part.
Go root for Indiana.

The metric didn't exist until this CFP cycle, so that's not able to be evaluated yet.
You can't compare Indiana's schedule whose toughest games and only ranked opponents are tOSU (4) & USC (19) with any SEC team whose schedule is littered with ranked opponents.

The SEC has maybe two elite teams, maybe 2-3 other decent teams. The rest are shite. You guys need to let go of this idea that the SEC schedule is some gauntlet. It’s not 2006-2012 anymore

Have to, based on what exactly? Who is the second best team in the BIG? Indiana by record but they aren’t good just haven’t played anyone but pencil in Indiana just for arguments sake. Oregon is dreadful and UCLA is a paper tiger. The problem with both conferences is you have a couple of really good teams, Georgia and maybe Ohio State but let’s be honest that Texas loss doesn’t look great now. If OSU drops another game and Alabama does then you only have one team being a lock in Georgia. The committee isn’t going to pass over 1 loss teams, regardless of conference strength.

I am not saying it’s an unstoppable gauntlet but the bottom half of the SEC is better than the bottom half of other conferences and one of those lesser teams is more capable of beating a playoff caliber SEC team than a cupcake OOC opponent. That’s the point, I think
