So Vandy wins the East?

Well I hope that is 100% true. Because with Elam back, the defense will be very nasty. If Floyd returns as well, then UF has got to be one of the favorites in the SEC and nationally in 2013.

Imagine how many points they would have scored on that pathetic excuse of a defense y'all have.

We have our entire Offense back besides Mackey and an O lineman. We have tons of RB's and Bell will slot in nicely into Hawkins spot at G.
On defense we lose 2 big bodies at DT but Bennet and Gross were the starters, they will be back. Marry and DN will be back at LB. We also get DT Shackleford back, but the jury is out on if his knee is what it used to be. We lose Pendleton at CB but Sawyer, Golson, Collins and Hilton will be back with Snoop Brassell (hopefully).
Not to mention we have a chance to add, Robert Nkemdichie, Elijah Daniels, Jason Carr, and Tony Connor to this defense.

LSU's offense could be anywhere from the same to dramatically better due to everyone getting a year under their belts of playing together and getting in sync. LSU's defense which didn't really live up to expectations this year, could become dramatically worse depending on who goes pro (could lose Mingo, Montgomery, Reid, Logan, and Minter). I expect LSU to mildly regress, and repeat this year's results with losses to Bama and UF. Right now, I have a hard time seeing LSU winning the West next year

Is Jeff Scott not a senior?

For LSU, our offense should be better. Cant be as bad as we were early on in the year. Everybody coming back, except maybe Ford/Ware.
Defense is what worries me next year, and its unusual because our D is what makes our team good. If we lose Mingo, Montgomery, Logan, Reid, and Minter we will be in trouble. I think Mingo, Montgomery, Reid, and Logan are all gone for sure. Keeping Minter would help us alot, especially since we most likely will have a completely new DL except for The Freak. We do have a lot of young DBs and LBs that played a lot of football this past season and that should help us. Usually our DL is our strength. Next season I think our LBs and DBs will be our strength. We will have a lot of young guys on the DL next year.

Pendleton is gone.
Mosley is gone too, but that shouldn't hurt too bad.
Ritter redshirted, correct?

I keep forgetting about that. I think this is where Liggins might find a home.

As did Campbell. We should be much improved on punting and maybe even a little better on FG's.

That could end really really well.

We will be better simply because Clowney will be back another year. I can't imagine the havoc he's going to cause next year.

I'm not too worried about LSUs defense. we've been hearing the same thing every year since '07 when Dorsey and Highsmith left and all we do is plug someone else in.

I guess the newbie hazing must continue. Whatever.
Objectively it is very important whether or not A&M loses 1, 2 or 3 of the Jrs. All 3 have given strong indications of staying but you can't bank on that. Matthews would be a true shock though as he is less of a lock for the 1st Round, will get to play next to his brother, and the family is loaded (actually the Matthews clan has the most NFL players of any family I believe, Clay Matthew is also relation). The appeal of making a NC run at A&M is real. For Moore he is incredibly close with Von Miller and his family, they are basically brothers. There is probably no single person that benefited more by staying his Sr year than Von in recent memory and he is Mr Aggie. Joekel also has a brother and has emphasized his wish to finish his degree. He is the most at risk though as he is almost certain to be the 1st OL drafted if not 1st Player.
Beyond that though Manziel is only going to get better. If you didn't see the improvement in him from the UF game to Bama I can't help you. He is working within the offense now instead of trying to improvise as soon as his 1st read is gone. By next year the offense will be almost instinctive to him and extremely difficult to stop. This is especially true because the skill position speed is going to be crazy next season, essentially Sumlin has gone out and gotten the fastest players he could find to spread out and burn defenses. At RB you will have the starter Malena back with 2 5*'s backing him up and a 250lb monster that is an Oregon transfer for short yardage situations.
On defense and in general A&M is losing some Srs but upgrading in raw talent. The guys coming in were stronger recruits than those who are leaving. Still there will be youth and youth means at least some question marks. They are still bigger and faster than those who they are replacing with the exception of the possibility of losing Moore.
More than all of that though, A&M had a brutal schedule this year with 12 games in a row with no byes, only 6 home games, 5 of 6 on the road in the middle of the year, and UF from the East.
Next year A&M has 2 warm up games before getting Bama at home. Then they ease through a nicely balanced schedule with 2 bye games, 8 home games with all patsy OOC, and exchange out UF with Vandy while keeping Mizzou from the East. So essentially they could lose to LSU and Bama and as long as they took care of business with the rest of the West and Vandy (at home) they get back to 10 wins. On the more optimistic side if they win that early home game with Bama they are quite possibly the #1 team in the country without another significant test (a trip to Ole Miss aside) until they travel to BR the 2nd to last weekend.
So yes, there is some pretty justifiable reasons why A&M fans think we can return our likely Heisman trophy winning QB and be better next year. You also can't "figure out" Manziel any more than you can "figure out" Cam or Tebow. You just have to hope they make mistakes or the talent around them doesn't step up.
