Has there ever been a team go downhill as fast as aTm has this year?
I mean LSU started the season last year at #4 and then began SEC play at 3-12. It happens to someone most years. Maybe not the #1 preseason team but someone up there. Hell Florida was top 5 this year and are 1-8 too

Wasn’t Ole Miss’s season after they won the championship pretty bad?
Yes, so was the season they won the title. They were #1 starting SEC play then were the last team in the NCAAT.

I see how you confused LSU for Missouri in your first take.
Easy to do - honest mistake.

So I came up with a rankings system.. not sure if I like it or not.. thoughts? changes?
Each team starts with a baseline.
2-1 in all home series
1-2 in all road series
and then each team gets graded on the results as wins over expectation
During a home series:
0-3 = -2
1-2 = -1
2-1 = 0 (expectation)
3-0 = 1
During a road series:
0-3 = -1
1-2 = 0 (expectation)
2-1 = +1
3-0 = +2
Rankings
+4 Arkansas (8-1) sb (4-5)
+4 Tennessee (8-1) sb (4-5)
+4 Texas (8-1) sb (4-5)
+3 Georgia (8-1) sb (5-4)
+2 LSU (7-2) sb (5-4)
+1 Alabama (6-3) sb (5-4)
+1 Ole Miss (6-3) sb (5-4)
+1 Oklahoma (5-4) sb (4-5)
0 Auburn (4-5) sb (4-5)
0 Kentucky (4-5) sb (4-5)
-1 Vanderbilt (4-5) sb (5-4)
-3 Florida (1-8) sb (4-5)
-3 Miss State (1-8) sb (4-5)
-4 So Carolina (1-8) sb (5-4)
-4 Texas A&M (1-8) sb (5-4)
-5 Missouri (0-9) sb (5-4)
So as an example, Tennessee has played 2 road series and 1 home series, so they have 3 road series left (1-2) and 4 home series left (2-1)
8-1 + 3-6 + 8-4 = 19-11 (+4 wins over 15)
Clearly we all expect them to finish better than that.. but if they just hold serve, they’ll get to 19 wins.
It’s basically a rankings of what you need to make the playoffs because 15-15 and you are definitely in.. and so your goal is anything 0 or better. If you think 13-17 gets you in, then you are aiming for a goal of -2 or better.

No, despite your little caveat, you were counting it as a series win. That is arrogant and stupid. The baseball gods hate arrogant and stupid. If any team’s fans should refrain from chest beating it is Alabama.

You do know what caveat means and how it would apply in this situation, right? You can’t have a caveat and be “arrogantly and stupidly” counting it as a series win.

To quote Captain America, “There’s only one God ma’am, and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t…” care about baseball.
The “baseball gods” aren’t real and if they were, they’d understand what a caveat means.

Your caveat was the Alabama bullpen imploding. That was your caveat in your fifth inning celebration.
You even finished it off with an underhanded “for a fat girl you don’t sweat much” compliment for OU.
And directly after that, OU scored 2 runs in each of the next two innings. The baseball gods don’t like arrogant. Alabama was lucky to hang on to win.

Bama up 8-2 T5 after an inside the park homer after two outfielders collided. Both guys slow getting up.
Assuming we don’t choke (which is possible with our bullpen), this will be a good series win for us. First 2 could have gone either way, and this OK team is pretty good.

Tend to agree that the expectation is, you win all home series (if you are competing for the league crown), so at first blush I think this is a pretty good system as every team in the SEC is decent (ex mizzou).
You could complicate it by throwing team records, but that would change by where you are in the season.
Ok, I like it, nice contribution - and it very accurately shows the top SEC teams (currently).
And very happy my hawgs swept Vandy at Vandy today. First time Vandy gave up a home sweep since #1 Tennessee did it in April 2022.

I see you doubled down with your whole “message boards impact the games being played” theory. Good luck with that and hope you have a good night, Cap

The Schloss impact to both Texas and A&M was underestimated. To me that is the big story.
I never expected Texas to contend at this level in Schloss' first season. Now again, we still have lots of ball to play, so things could level out. But I'm impressed either way at this point.
And nobody expected A&M to go into immediate and complete free-fall, with wheels and cart imploding in mid-air after already driving off a cliff.
