YAY - 8,000 more seats for LSU fans NOT to sit in!

That Nola article says we're only adding 24 suites
That's a typo. The project was proposed at 65 suites, then we heard 60 for awhile, now the 2014 seating chart shows 70. That would bring Tiger Stadium up to 140 suites.
Edit: beat me to it. I'm most interested in how much SRO there will be. Last number I heard was 400.
With 70 box suites being added and additional chairback rows above the suites, the SRO will be in between and/or above the bleachers and next to the 2 video screens.
Friend of mine who used to work for TAF but has stayed in close contact confirms this and also said there could be expandable SRO for big games, and says the absolute top capacity will definitely be 101,000+.

I agree with your larger point, but TAMU has enjoyed relatively unflagging football attendance even in down years.
Kyle Field is a perfect illustration of the new trend toward adding premium seating. Kyle Field will temporarily be at 109,000...the second-largest stadium in the country by a few hundred, after the Big House at Michigan.
TAMU is voluntarily reducing the capacity from 109,000 to 102,500 (est) in order to replace some of the general seating with premium seating. Including six more of the over-sized "Founder's Suites" with a capacity of 28 people.

Yay! 101,000 seats so that 50,000 people can now leave in the 3rd quarter against Florida or Auburn to "beat traffic."
I love LSU and Tiger Stadium, but it has become a joke the last 4-5 years with entitled fans who show up for the party and leave early if LSU is playing anyone except Alabama.
Sorry, Tide fans. You're in our head. And, because of it, Tiger Stadium is losing our luster unless we play you.
The good news is that Alabama comes to Tiger Stadium this year and there will be 2 years of pent up frustration. The bad news is that we have to play Alabama.
I'd honestly like to see some of these stadiums smaller and more compact filled with fans who were going to stay the whole game and be loud.
My favorite stadium in the SEC has to be Jordan-Hare. I try to go to every LSU-Auburn game there because I live in Alabama and that place makes my ears bleed.

Nice sail-trolling. The SEZ is mostly premium seating...so it's paid for at the beginning of the year.
The regular seating being added will be where the visitors will now sit. Ya'll are being moved out of the lower bowl to the nosebleed seats. Same as we get when we travel.
You're welcome.

Been to TS a ton of times - makes since for them to remove visiting fans from the lower SEZ (not sure why visiting fans weren't moved to the west upper or east upper years ago).
C'mon guy, even LSU fans poke fun at the bald spots in TS during big games.

Yup, and that's a fact that my mother (a Michigan grad) will hold over my dad and my head until the day she dies

It's a smart move. I selfishly want 110k Aggies packed in there, but this is better long term.

Serious question for LSU fans - so the corner of the north end zone is the student section, and there are always a ton of empty seats around the NEZ scoreboard. From my understanding those seats are for law students and vet students, but they don't show up (for the most part). Why aren't those seats taken from them and sold to the public?
I have always wondered that.

Yeah, I'm just pointing out that the people in premium seating are less likely to leave early. And that more LSU fans will get lower bowl seating, which will hopefully make them stick around.
Be warned, the heat up in the nosebleed seats can be brutal. You'll see that first-hand now.

I've sat in the east upper a couple of times and the OLD west upper years ago. Those things are scary (sway too much for me).

This year the Athletic Department reviewed in-stadium cameras to determine, among other things, how each section behaved during a game. They were looking for things like rowdiness, leaving early, and vulgarity during songs...STTDB...
So I'm sure it will get addressed.

It's about damn time. Tiger Stadium has been giving visitors premium seats for way too long.

When LSU plays big OOC games in Tiger Stadium (i.e. West Virginia, Va.Tech, etc.) and SEC games (esp. Fla, Aub, UGA, OM, A&M, UT and Bama, the stadium is full usually until late in the game or even the end of the game (unless it's a blowout.)
Yes there are 'patches' for ULL, No Texas, Ark State, etc.)
People leave early not because of some lessened 'allegiance' to their team, but because they are simply too impatient to wait until traffic dies down 2 hours after the game.

Yes, because the 2012 LSU-bama game at Death Valley was so quiet and boring and there were only 30,000 people left at the end of the game...

bigger isn't better. The next wave of stadium improvements will be downsizing with all chair back seats. Ideally capacity is probably 70-80,000. I don't know why texas a&M and missouri increased the stadiums so much.

Thank god all those LSU fans were there to will their team to victory. Couldn't have done it without them.
