What the hell was going on during the last few seconds of the national championship?

Saban and Mauck weren't on the same page or something. For whatever reason, LSU left 9 seconds on the clock and were about to take a knee on 4th down at midfield.

Why didn't OU have anybody back to return the punt?

LSU almost did the exact same thing in the Outback Bowl.

OU clearly thought they had a better shot at blocking the punt than a return/hail Mary

They definitely should have tried for a return. It's like they gave up...

Every time I see something from this season I think of Eli falling and I get sad

More than likely felt their only chance was a block with Donnie Jones punting. That 80 yard punt against Kentucky in the Blue Grass Miracle was a thing of beauty.

Seemed like Gary Danielson was doing a good job explaining the factors at play there.

Everything in there didn't even feel real after the Turner sack.

OU had no body back to return the punt because they went with an all out block

This is the answer. We wanted one more shot to crush Jason White.
