So you're admitting to being completely wrong but somehow manage to try and say "see? I gotcha!"

The biggest problem was the play should have never happened. The clock turned to 0:00 well before the snap. Officials totally blew that.

Now the players deal started in 2017 with the OM players and their actions in Starkvegas.

I am disappointed in our State players for taking the bait from last year and carrying it over to this year. I would like to see our players follow the late great Walter Payton’s example and just play football with class and let their action on the field to speak for themselves.

When did you grow up in Vicksburg?

It was like this in the 90s with Sherrill and Tubberville.

Mullen re ramped it back up and Freeze did as well.

It was down when both teams were shite in the 2000s.

To answer tho it all started with CJ Johnson. Johnson was considered one of the strongest State commits and Ole Miss has apparently had him playing Staye the whole time andhe went to OM.

So State did the same thing with Leo Lewis but Ole Miss actually paid Leo. Who was one of many players OM has plaid over the years.

The whole Lewis thing really escalated things. Then AJ Brown happened.

Basically Ole Miss can’t take a look in the mirror and accept fault for cheating, rafher blame us for it.

It’s always been like this, there was a huge brawl in the late 90s.

Man, you are all over the place. You have been slapped all over this thread and aren't making sense anymore. Maybe you should sit a few plays out.

35-3

Did I mention 35-3? You suck. You won't be bowling. You'll suck even more next year. You already have had some decommits.

35-3 and we played Vanilla just because we knew we didn't have to try.

35-3. Eat it! Now let me go visit the Golden Egg. Nah, I have all year.

and Dan Mullen.

In what way? I know Mullen could be curt and tactless, but he wasn't Ed "Imma gonna tear off my shirt and fight all youse" O* level belligerent. Was he? I honestly didn't watch more than a half dozen of his pressers in all the time he was at State.

being generally belligerent has nothing to do with the toxicity of a rivalry. O never gave a shite about the Egg Bowl.

Dan escalated it by continually taking jabs at Ole Miss at every single opportunity. He needed to get the fans behind him and knew exactly what to do. The Clangers ate that shite up. Then add in a solid run by him and the start of Nutt's downfall and you end up with people talking shite and not being brought down to Earth.

I saw someone mention Freeze holding part of the blame for the toxicity but I can't, for the live of me, place where he's done or said anything remotely close that would cause him to shoulder any blame.

Maybe he can ask Bdork why he opened all the gates to VHS and allowed the students to flood the field while our players were still on the field after Freeze won his first Egg Bowl in Oxford.

Until the whores got him, Freeze was always good at PR. So good that even some of my family (mostly OM grads and sidewalk fans) actually started to dislike him because they thought he was crossing over into Eddie Haskell smarminess by the end.

My theory, and keeping mind I have, like, two MSU fans in my family against a couple dozen OM ones, so my exposure is limited, is that MSU fans were getting extremely irked at OM's rapid rise to success. Feeling that they were being overshadowed by a cheater would be bad enough, but feeling like they were the Mississippi school being left behind would touch a huge nerve. The state of Mississippi, in my extensive experience as a local boy, has a significant self-esteem problem on the whole, but at least the two major schools didn't have a huge perceptual divide between with regards to the rest of the country. They might not like each other, but they were in it together, like siblings against the world. One of them ascending rapidly would have had a disproportionate effect on the other one, I think.

As for the poster talking about his experience with the animosity of times past, it's possible I just wasn't exposed to it as much, especially attending a small private school where open animosity was frowned on.
