In short, the officials kicked the wrong people out of the game, so they aren't suspended for the bowl game. Also, Sankey has summoned Bjork and Cohen to swear fealty.

"It remains disappointing to have seen the unnecessary actions during and after the Mississippi State at Ole Miss game on Thursday night. These actions are unacceptable and my concern relates to the bigger issue of the repeated incidents before, during and after games between these football programs," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. "These incidents have become too common in this series. I will require both athletics directors to meet with me at the SEC Office in the off-season to review past issues and develop a plan for the purpose of creating a healthier environment for this annual game."

Good luck with that, when everyone top to bottom hates each other, it won’t help.

You don’t have that problem in the Iron Bowl, when that player got hurt and got up, Bama player patted him on the back and fans clapped.

That shite doesn’t happen in the Egg Bowl rn. When Peters walked off after getting hurt there was no clapping at all.

It’s gone way too far and everyone from the players to the fans to the administrations hate each other.

Will Big John, Cole and Rowdy be there? Will there be a threat of a Japanese inspection?

Sankey's kids go to MSU. He's probably worried about his daughters and the toxic rivalry.

The SEC's review of the in-game altercation determined that four players should have been called for flagrant personal foul penalties: #38 Johnathan Abram and #2 Jamal Peters of Mississippi State and #1 A.J. Brown and #2 Matt Corral of Ole Miss.

Flagrant personal foul penalties do not result in suspensions for subsequent games. These four student-athletes are hereby publicly reprimanded for their participation in the altercation during the game and subject to suspensions should there be any future similar actions. There will be no further action at this time

That's good news for the bowl game. Ultimately though, this isn't going to stop any of the tension.

I hope Cohen breaks Bjorks loud mouth jaw as soon as he walks into Sankeys office and says “problem solved”

This right here does not create a healthier environment for this annual game.

While they are in the rectifying mood, when can we expect that SEC statement on the LSU / A&M game?
Asking for a friend.

I like how the Conference just unilaterally reversed penalties and potential suspensions.

Interesting.

Sankey can't control the fans, but he most certainly has significant power to ensure that the coaches keep their players under control. The only question is whether or not he will use it. I'm guessing he will if necessary.

I’m not sure if they do anymore. Just looked up the last name on the student directory and got no hits.

OPs understanding of what was written was wrong. There never was any half game suspensions levied. The penalty does not call for it. And the penalties were not reversed they just got the players wrong.

Not sure that means anything. You can opt out of that.

I actually think the tone has got to simmer down a bit but I'm going to echo Coach Joe and say that we will show class and poise but not take their s**t!

In short, it takes BOTH programs to play nicer, not just one.

I opted out when I went to Ole Miss.

Also what did he expect to happen after allowing the immunity deal? Did he honestly think that wouldn't cause an escalated tension in this rivalry?

Ole Miss fans booed an injured player so he flipped them off.

It just means more, I guess.

horseshite. Get Joe's dick out of your mouth. Peters is the one that started it when he slapped AJ's helmet.

My bigger questions is whether Big John will call them monkeys. That's kinda iffy in this day and age.
