Which SEC teams want to run the football? Which teams will be stubborn about it in the red zone and short yardage? Which teams have a running QB and will skew the numbers? Which teams want to play physical and control the LOS and TOP? Short answer: Not many.

Someone tell me who these SEC teams are, and then I might bother to look at their pedigrees.

Bamas RB’s will be up there because we will be relying on them more. We bring back 4 o-lineman and two RB’s with a new QB. Yep, we’ll run the damn ball more with the RB this year.

Not necessarily arguing for them to be on this list but I think State has a very underrated RB room. Booth is very athletic and came on strong in the second half of last year, Daniels was effective as well, and they added Fluff Bothwell (yes that’s his real name) who was very effective at South Alabama as a true freshman last year.

Jarquez Hunter was criminally misused last year. He may have been the best back in the SEC. At worst top 3.
He was second in the SEC last year. We dont have to guess, the stats are right here

The disrespect to Sedrick Alexander is ridiculous.

I’d take him over any RB in front of him

Absolute dog shite list. Ott is the best RB in the conference and it’s not a debate.

Yeah man I think OU has the deepest running back room as well.

1. Ott - Big time talent

2. Xavier Robinson - True freshman last year that came on at the end and ran all over Alabama.

3. Javantae Barnes - Former Starter coming back off injury

4. Taylor Tatum - #1 RB recruit in the Country, Freshman last year

5. Tory Blaylock - 4* Freshman from Humble, TX. Big and Fast

If it’s coming from “SEC Mike”, then I all of a sudden feel really good about Texas being ranked behind a&m in this poll

SEC Mike is a joke

He’s a closet OU fan. He said Norman is the best SEC town(lol) and picked them to win the SEC this year

He stated in the past how amazing Venables is too

We've been a RB by committee team ever since Meyer arrived.

I actually think it's better for the team but it's harder to get elite backs if you never have a clear #1.

The year Kevin Taylor got 1K we probably would have been better giving some of the carries to Jordan Scarlett even as a frosh.

But I'd rather have 3 guys with 400 yards than a single 1K and the other two with 100 yards

Not sure what Ole Miss has this year but Kiffin usually runs the ball a lot there but his QBs get a chunk of those yards.

30 rushes for 89 yards in two years vs Auburn.

That was a bad season Taylor got the 1000 yards but he was a clear #1 RB getting about 2/3 of the carries among the RBs. QB Treon Harris had close to 100 rushes though. I think if you have a clear #1 that is durable they should get at least 2/3 of the carries in non-garbage time. Not sure if our #2 is close to Baugh or not. In his big Texas game I think a lot of that was TX expecting a pass because they were blowing us out.

And so much depends on the QB standing behind center. Georgia has forever been thought of as the ultimate run-first under Smart. Against SEC teams in 2024, they were next to last. Thank goodness for LSU. Carson Beck changed their ID. LSU just gave up on the run when they turned Miles loose in 2016.

Tennessee, TAMU, BAMA, SC, and Shorthorns were the top 5 rushing teams in the SEC.

The OOC games against opponents that are just overwhelmed at the kickoff only skew the numbers. Against the big boys, in crunch time, is a SEC team's real offensive identity.

Ott wasn't healthy last year but in 2023 he had over 1200 yards, averaged 115 yards per game, and 11 touchdowns. And he catches the ball out of the backfield.

They include OOC games. I didn't add any sisters of the poor.
