TBH, the SEC hasn’t had the same skills players this season. Very few WRs and RBs that make you go “wtf did he just do,,,wow”. It’s not just a QB problem.
You might have something here. Perhaps we're seeing an impact of NIL. Having more first year players on a team (all the freshmen plus all the transfers in) means less players with time in the system on each team... which means worse play across the board.

Last season, our secondary was ranked 121st in the nation. We switch conferences, but keep the same coaches and personnel, now we’re ranked 1st in the nation. I thought that was suspicious. Watching the game yesterday afternoon made me realize we haven’t played a competent offense or QB all season long. That’s so ridiculous, we used to line up across the best offenses in the country every fricking week. Y’all had it so good over here with your gaudy defensive stats. It don’t make a shite.
I think it's two parts.
A. Klubnick played an amazing game, similar to Penix in our game in the playoffs last year. He was evading pressure and fitting balls into tight widows that a defender had no chance to make a play on.
B. SEC offenses as a whole are simplistic and easier to prepare for, especially when you have as much talent as they do. It's not like the Big12 where you play a run and gun offense one week, then an air raid the next followed by a pro style the following week. For the most part, SEC offense share the same foundational tenancies.

Like the team that came with you from Big 12 which could not make it above 100 yards passing in one game and finished at the bottom of the SEC in passing yards per game???
The SEC was down offensively some this season, but during the more recent games against those “great” Big 12 offenses you used to face the SEC had 6 heisman trophy winning QBs - Tebow, Newton, Manziel, Burrow, Young, and Daniel plus 3 other winners at RB or WR - Ingram, Henry, and Smith. In same time frame Big 12 had 4 winners - Bradford, Griffin, Mayfield, and Murray.
Recent drafts:
Last draft the Big 12 had 2 offensive players drafted in the 1st round (no QBs). LSU had 3 offensive players by itself including a QB along with the 5 other offensive players from other SEC teams also drafted in first round for a total of 8.
2023 Big 12 had 3 offensive players drafted in first round (no QBs), and the SEC had 5 offensive players drafted in the 1st round including 2 QBs with one the first pick.
2022 Big 12 had 0 offensive players drafted in the 1st round (also 0 on defense), and the SEC had 5 offensive players drafted in the first round.
2021 Big 12 again had 0 offensive players drafted in the 1st round (also again had 0 on defense), and the SEC had 8 offensive players drafted in the first round including a QB.
This season Texas played against the bottom 4 teams in the SEC in passing yards per game. Texas also played one SEC game against a 3rd string walk on QB and played another against the last place team in the SEC. There was also the out of conference game against the passing offensive juggernaut Michigan.

SEC was always top heavy, and protected its teams by not making them play each other.
SEC has always been top heavy. At least for last 20-25 years. Was Fla and LSU, then Saban/Bama and LSU, then Bama/Dawgs…
… and everyone else.
No doubt SEC has best athletes top to bottom. Not even close.
But the SEC wasn’t “down” this year, it’s just typical SEC. A couple of mashers and everyone else, just like last 20 years.
Anyway Texas’s offense has been suspect ever since Ewers injured oblique. Tough to compare how same offense would’ve done in Big 12 because SEC has more physical run defenses (typically) which dictate play calling.
I do feel that a competent/smart mobile QB is a game changer in SEC and more valuable than a pocket guy like Ewers. Lots of athletic QBs but too many are athletic and dumb rather than competent game managers.
But glory days of big 12 were when Leach was at Tech and you had OU, Tech, Okie St, KState, Texas all with innovative offenses. Defenses couldn’t keep up. Of course at the end of the day a more physical style like SEC will win that matchup.

Yea I remember when Leach had Michael Crabtree and a record setting offense and got absolutely BTFD by a Houston Nutt Ole Miss team in the Cotton Bowl.
I believe Ole Miss beat OSU back to back years also.
It really is hard for the former Big-12 teams to talk shite about the SEC after recent historical performances.
And 2019 LSU was pretty good at offense.
The dynamic has changed completely with NIL and the portal (because the SEC was too good), so the conference will never be as dominant as it was the last 20 years. But there is no question it was dominant.

You played a weak scheduled with no elite offenses?

Especially on the oline it seems. Having to plug in new guys there yearly in a new system doesn’t give them much time to adapt. Having a solid oline is huge for a team.

I thought the passing game looked rough for Tennessee against OSU. Didn’t realize their passing game was that bad.

Except for Georgia, you played the bottom 6 teams in the conference. You are one flimsy arse Texan. We expected better Jim.
