Safer to facilitate it than to try and stop it

They should announce over the loud speaker that entry onto the playing field constitutes consent for the opposing players to beat the shite out of you if you get in their way.

I don't recall that happening in '97 but security is very tight down there now.
IThe only time I remember happening in Athens was 2000 vs UT and I highly doubt it'll happen again. Its pretty much impossible to get near the field during/after the game plus the natural barrier of the hedges helps.
Need to have a minimum million dollar fine and warn people repeatedly not to go on the field after a big victory.

Alabama: If you can't beat their boys, beat their girls. Gumps are the Lia Thomas of the college football world.

Don't you guys tear those up after losses? Doesn't seem like much of an obstacle.

The SEC does have one safeguard in place to lessen the chances it happens. The Refs cheat for Alabama. I mean, who else does anyone storm the field after beating?

No, I think Burton should be kicked off the team and charged with assault. But I also think rushing the field is pathetic and I dread the day Alabama sucks enough that it's done at Bryant-Denny.

SEC needs to figure out some way to control fans storming the field
What do you suggest?

?
Here are a few suggestions for consideration. Enormous fines for the home team, especially for repeat offenders. Detention of as many fans as possible by police, revocation of season tickets for offenders, disciplinary action for students involved (probation, barred from buying student tickets), possible trespassing charges, possible disturbing the peace charges. Although the sheer numbers of people involved make most of those things difficult.

Blame your kicker for missing a potential game winner, or your safety for pissing himself multiple times, or Saban for wasting a scholarship on a bitch.

The privet hedges were newborn still after Olympics. I think they also added the chain link fence in the middle of it afterwards. You will not be having a good night if you are try going over or through them these days.

There's a big difference between throwing shite and storming the field. I see nothing wrong with students storming the field after a monumental victory. It was a pretty cool scene honestly.
This probably sounded intelligent in your head, but it's really pretty stupid. Nothing wrong with students storming the field? What do you suggest...posting an army of security guards to check thousands of people for student IDs as they're coming over the fricking wall?
Anyone with two brain cells to rub together understands that it's am unsafe environment for everyone who's supposed to be on the field when suddenly thousands storm the field...some no doubt intoxicated. It's a wonder someone hasn't taken a swing at a player, coach, or offficial before now.

So Burton was intoxicated when he took a swing at a college age girl? That’s the defense of this now?

The SEC already does this.

Your last sentence pretty much explains why none of your suggestions are workable.
The only solution is probably to create barriers that will prevent spectators from getting on the field. Hedges...wide enough so no one could ever get through them...are probably ideal.
