The crowd really gets into the Band Pregame for the big games.

Yeah LSUs is good. If you're talking about the SEC fanfare thing I was there when they played and the band kept the smaller LSU section rocking all game.

Those are both good clips of The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, but this one is better if you want to see "how the hell did they do that?" stuff. Skip to about 5:33 if you're tired of hearing the War Hymn.

I used to kid a few BQ buddies that they achieved excellence through torture. They never argued :-)

Well I'll say it since no one else has. Vandy has the worst band and pregame in the conference. As a matter of fact, we are lucky to have a band at all. A little known fact regarding our band is that its comprised of 3 different Universities: Belmont, Lipscomb and Vandy. Without the support of the other two schools, we have no band.

Its A&M and its not close. I have been in Death Valley at Night in the Student Section getting of course soaked in booze because I was rooting for A&M in those days in head to heads. and even the students stopped and were like holy shite - yalls band is freaking awesome. Its very different. Its very good.

I always got in student section with an LSU Band guys ID - my girlfriend was a golden girl so she would get it for me and it always worked. I loved the LSU student section. Nothing like it anywhere in sports. Its frightening. In a delicious malty soaked 100 proof tittys way.

I would say Texas AM's band is way more different in regards of fitting in with the SEC than LSU's

I have no idea what this means, but I like it

My favorite band story I only learned the punchline to last year, 34 years after I graduated. My senior year our company won the march-in competition at the first home game, which we had not done in my previous 3 years, so it was a kinda big deal. One of my closer friends was in the band and visiting our dorm when we were hooting about it. The next game, when we were about 30 feet from the reviewing stand they suddenly broke into "The Tennessee Waltz". Play it in your mind and you can see the difficulty of marching to it. We all figured it was just bad luck. Nope! My really good friend thought we were a bit too uppity about winning and set the whole thing up!

I'm still plotting my revenge. I have no idea what it will be, but it will be glorious.

That's true of any conference, not just the SEC. The only way that band "fits in" is with the service academies. That doesn't mean they aren't awesome or that any rational person w/o a hard-on for all things military wouldn't recognize the awesomeness.

FWIW, LSU has a very fine band, says me.

I don't know too much about other SEC Bands' Pre-Game Pageantry.
I know LSU's of course. And we went to Auburn last year and saw the Eagle Fly Over whic was way cool.
I seem to remember from Tuscaloosa Bama's when they play the first few notes of 'Yea Alabama' slowly and build up to the fast version.

I've heard USC has a cool entrance too. And Tennessee.
I'd love to see all of them one day.

It just came to me. Night time. Soaked in booze. Young. Chicks. Invincibility that comes with youth. Chicks everywhere. Back when the girls still worshipped the guys. When they acted like they loved getting soaked in booze too. Fear of something always in the back of the mind - not sure what. Tittys.

LSU guys - is that a good description of the student section. Another word is heaven.

I'm pretty sure 3/4 of GT's band are students from Ga. St., Morehouse & Clark Atlanta...
