I tend to agree. The pods really add no value and winning one doesn’t guarantee a trip to the SECCG. I dunno if it’s 2, 3 or 4 but just going with permanent rivals and a rotating schedule for the rest seems reasonable enough.

Going to pods was the only sensible thing to do. Sankey got some good sense here.

There is zero chance they put Alabama and Georgia into the same pod. It would potentially eliminate one of them every year from playoff contention and at the end of the day it’s about making the most money for the conference not geographic regions or rivalries

This really makes no sense.

Four SEC teams will have one extra game. Whoever plays for the SECC will have even another game. Either we move the season up a week............which will mean "rivalry weekend" will be the weekend before Thanksgiving, or we play the SECCG on the same Saturday as Army/Navy.

Or the SECCG goes away because of the Playoffs.

This is the one if they go pods. Balanced. Rivalries are generally maintained. A&M doesn't particularly want to be in Texas' pod which may have been a condition for their not voting no. They will not split Ole Miss/Miss State OR Alabama/Auburn. Not happening.

The team with the best record/tiebreakers is SEC champion or there are co-champs. No championship game when playoffs are expanded.

Divisions is my answer! Like it or not! Play 7 teams in one division then 4 teams in the other division. Then 1 game for a team outside of the SEC. It is much more balance. No b*tching and no one will be at a disadvantage.

As they should since Alabama built the conference.

If they do ho pods, which I expect to loathe.

OU, Texas, A&M, Mizzou
Arky, LSU, Ole Miss, State
Bama, Barn, Vandy, The stinking Vols
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky

Could probably flip the stinking Vols and Kentucky, but tried to keep old rivals together as much as I could.

3 permanent games in your pod, rotate 6 conference games 2 per each pod.

Figuring out who goes to the SECCG is going to be a cast iron bitch.

Going to a POD system would be making something really simple turn into something really complicated. Pods would be trying to do what the NFL does without doing things the way the NFL does. The only way the pod system makes any sense is to have the winners of each pod play a semifinal game with the winners of those games playing for the title. Anything short of that is really dumb and makes no sense. If winning a pod gets you nothing then why have them in the first place. Yeah the only way to make pods work and make sense is to have the winners play a semifinal game and it would be very hard to do that without adding a game every year. So if you can’t do that then what’s the point of pods. The SEC could just give every team a schedule every year and the top 2 plays for the title. Something similar to the way the Big 12 does currently. I’m not a fan of that either but it would make a hell of a lot more sense than playing for and winning a pod that would not count for anything.

Between expanded playoffs and SEC championship playoffs, I wonder who the first 19-0 champions would be.

Texas is no longer controlling their own conference. A&M isn’t afraid of Texas. We destroyed their conference and forced them to follow us. They wanted to control the Pac12. We said Bye. Now they are wallowing in a crap conference built but their own stupidity. And now they are forced to join a conference they really never wanted in the first place. The conference that we wanted.

So no. We are afraid of them. They follow us. Not the other way around.

POds add nothing....go NOPods NO divisions, just make a permanent rivalry game, rotate the rest of the conference, , play 8 conference games at least while only 4 teams in the playoff.....

This way
you keep rivalry game
You play everyone in conference every two years
You maintain the edge the 8 game conference schedule gives the SEC at least till playoff expands
You get the best 2 teams into CCG and don’t have a weak division problem anymore...
