2010 South Carolina Gamecocks: # 22 5-3 (9-5)
No asterisk needed.

MSU 98 says hi

So does Arkie '95 (8-5, NR) and '02 (9-5, NR).

Well, Texas A&M did beat their division champion/national champion in their first season while you guys failed to beat the division runner up in your three years in the division.

Sometimes I wish we could have started off in the East.

Ole' Miss is 31-33 vs the east since 1992...with 15 of those wins coming against Vandy.

East-West...you still weren't making it to Atlanta

Ole Miss football.....yeah, not much to talk about when it comes to them. I did enjoy Manning play. He did make them a competitive team. Don't recall them winning anything big with him though.

What about in the 90's when the West was complete dog shite outside of the occasional Bama team? What's your excuse for not making it then?

I think he's said before he's still in high school. He probably wasn't even watching football when the east was dominant and the west sucked.

Of the 4, Ole Miss has the least excuse. We all know Vandy has academics first. A&M obviously only a few seasons into this thing. Arkansas and Carolina have only been once a piece, right? And of course, here at Kentucky the fans have always taken football more seriously than the administration ever has, but still not as seriously as basketball.

Ole Miss is all in on football and it's not as if State I'd running train on the Mississippi recruiting trail. There just really aren't enough people in that state to support keeping either of those programs at an elite level. If they combined into one large school they could do some damage.

Arkansas has been 3 or 4 times. The first few times they were setting records for worst loss in teh game until SC came along and broke it in 2010.

State actually showed up for the championship game. Had a lead over the eventual national champ with under 7:00 to go.

Arkansas 1995 is the worst team ever to make the SEC Championship. Unranked. Lost to SMU. and ended up in the Carquest Bowl getting blown out by an unranked North Carolina. They also needed a miracle to beat a 3-8 Mississippi State team that was the worst of the Jackie Sherrill era.

Ole Miss and UK are very similar. Both have had relatively brief periods of relevance, OM under Vaught and UK under Bryant. Otherwise, not much to pound their chests over. Problem is that UK recogognizes that fact and OM doesn't.

Ole Myth proves their impotence by the way they continue to hang on to every moment of relanvance in their history, for example, their 2014 win over Alabama, as evidenced every day on this forum. They'll be crowing to their grand kids that they saw OM actually beat Alabama. They won't mention that it was a meaningless win as Bama went on to win the SEC or that they ended the season by being humiliated by TCU.

It's not that surprising when you consider Ole Miss is 71-113 in SEC play since the conference title game started in 1992. They're only 146-130 overall in that same time frame.

Ole Miss is historically a far better program than Kentucky.

SEC record since 1992:
Mississippi 71-113
UK 47-137

SEC Record since 1931:
Mississippi 255-280
UK 165-373

There are three long time SEC programs that are shite.

Ole Miss does have 6 SEC championships before the split. That is not quite "shite." Also, Ole Miss had the dubious distinction of being the only team in the West ever to finish 7-1 in SEC play and not go the title game. Meh, that is just life.

BTW, the "shite" program that is Ole Miss would have played in the SEC title game last year if they were in the EAST. But so would have any other SEC WEST team.

Actually Ole Miss is not the only program in the SEC West to have a 7-1 conference record and not make it to Atlanta. Alabama has done it twice in the last four years alone.
