Bowl Jackson, you continue to amaze me with your ignorance. If awards were given for dumb arse of the year you would be a sure winner.

Also, the game is too long for this day and age. The NFL keeping their games under 3 hours is huge for that sport.
They have to get the college game under 3 hours or so. 4 hour games suck.
Kids now and pretty much everybody now have very short attention spans. Sitting on a bleacher for 4 hours isn't at the top of lists anymore.

Please just ignore Bowl Jackson. If no one would respond to him, then he might disappear.
and before you all blast me, NNM and Joshua that are fake State fans should be ignored as well.
Back to the attendance situation, nothing beats being at the game but the dynamics of today demand that the schools change the way do things.
First, cut the schedule from 12 games to 10 games.
Second, institute a 16 team play off.
Third , keep 10 Bowl games for the truly deserving teams that are outside the play off.
Third, in the south, ban any games before 3P in September.
Fourth, eliminate all the crappy Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday games.
Fifth, have only one Thursday evening game per week. The rest of the games are to be played on Saturday.
Sixth, cut the scholarships to 75 per team.
There is more but that is a start

Sitting through long TV timeouts while at the stadium don't help.

Easy answer...it is simply too expensive to go to a game for too many people.

That is old world thinking
Lots of tickets are silently resold in blocks to corporations or attached to donations that are not reflected in face value printed on tickets. If the NCAA went to actual turnstile turns and not inflated ticket sales the numbers would be more glaring.
That still means they’re sold out.
I guess attendance might be a little lower, but I would still like to see stats that back that up. Stadiums are getting bigger so there are probably more open seats but I have to believe there are just as many people as ever going to games.

Yeah, some will look for every reason other than the simple fact that there's not much left of the blue collar Southern lower tier middle class that used to have a bit more disposable income and were die hard college football fans.

With the SEC Network, even bad games get televised. You just don’t have to travel anymore. Universities need to improve the game day experience if they want to attract more people.

In 10 years..all games will be in VR. It will be the experience from the sideline, 50 yard line front row...end zone on the field and more. I have NextVR and they do NBA and other sporting events now. It's whats coming and the stadium experience will take a back seat....

Ticket and parking pricing. Alcohol sales will drive a lot of people away too. Going to a football game is an entire day event now.

Depends on the situation. It does get expensive as hell for a family of 3-4 to go to a game. Depending on the product that's being given to you....it might not be worth it.
From 2013-2015 seasons....it was definitely worth it from an Ole Miss fans' perspective. We've been a shite-show since so yeah it's not worth it to many to attend every home game. I moved 850 miles away so I can't go regardless but that's pretty much how I would feel if I hadn't moved. I know a number of people back home that feel the same way(both OM and MSU fans).

It is the dirty little secret nobody wants to own up to.
Say the NCAA March Madness is sold out but if you went you saw thousands of empty seats. The get some corporation to buy say 5,000 seats for 1.00 just to claim it is sold out. When the game is going on they never let the camera get to the dead spots so it looks full when it is not.
