They have NBA draft in bylaws but these court challenges aren't about what's in the bylaws but whether the bylaws themselves are fair and being applied consistently.
The slippery slope is all the recent exceptions for foreign professionals.
That's where any clear precedent has dissolved in tons of individual cases with different circumstances. Put enough "exceptions" the NCAA has granted together and the picture is anything but "consistent" and it's easy to make a case for the next exception.

The NCAA is ran by a bunch of idiots. Put in hard rules and quit giving exceptions. 5 or 6 years to play, nothing after that even if you sprain your cock. If you go pro and realize you suck after two years, you can go back to playing college for one year.

You lost the plot with this statement

I actually agree with Sankey on this issue. My question is, if NCAA rules are so important, where was his statement about all of the other athletes that have gone to court to get around those rules?
People acting like he’s making a stand are insane. He knows which way the wind is blowing and he’s taking a popular stand. If he were principled he wouldn’t have waited until now.
Any argument that centers on “the integrity of college sports” in an era where we have schools paying players millions of dollars to get them to come play for a year is a dumb argument. The genie is out of the bottle.

It’s telling that Sankey keys on the NCAA being inconsistent in granting exceptions to any athlete that has been “focusing on training as a professional”.
I’d love for him to explain the distinction between the NCAA allowing players receive money to play, players from pro teams in Europe receiving money to play and players in the NBA receiving money to play.
All three play basketball.
All three have players receiving compensation for their participation.
You’re allowed to transfer between schools as a paid player and be eligible.
You’re allowed to transfer in from a euro team and be eligible.
What makes the NBA or G league different from a legal perspective?

Because their coach has no integrity
Auburn was the first and only P4 program to ever hire a head basketball coach and a head football coach each with a show cause on their resume who coached during the same period.
Auburn fans have forever forfeited the right to even use the word integrity.

By all means tell me.
I didnt want any of this NIL era mess but the moment NIL happened its just a pro league with college logos.
If they want it fixed theyll make them employees, give them contracts and collective bargaining.
If not good luck with the courts taking any of the current rules seriously because this is going to get far worse given the likely outcome of rules challenging eligibility.

Alabama backed him into a corner on this one. It did take him 2 weeks to say something. I bet the NCAA threatened him.

I get downvoted but this is not because Sankey is weak, this is not an SEC only issue. What have you heard from the other conference Commissioners? They're all hamstrung by the lawyers and judges.

Downvotes without a response os weak.

In his statement filed with the court he says the "NCAA eligibility rules challenged in this case are essential to the integrity of college sports."
Hmm? It took some big sportswriters to call him out and say the SEC has no leadership but a pompom fan boy at the helm?

And then they would be sued and lose. They could also say if you transfer you sit for a year. Oh…they once did that. The rules mean nothing so no need to have any.
