It does require a bit of rationalization by average SEC fan.
There's no doubt that both came into the league looking to prove a point. The media made it a plot line that "these Big-12 pussies are gonna come in and get their arse whooped." Certainly, that provided a spark. They have proven it.
But to be fair, especially in the case of A&M, I don't give a damn what conference you put them in Manziel is simply unstoppable.
Mizzou was always a solid program and they've beaten Vandy and a Georgia team that Tennessee in all honestly had beaten and fumbled it away. The next two weeks will define Mizzou's season. They're sitting pretty right now though.
But, to everybody outside the SEC it just proves how overrated the conference is.
Of the 2 teams, A&M definitely has a richer history, but they still have only 1 BCS bowl appearance (a loss to tOSU in the '98 Sugar Bowl). Missouri has no BCS appearances. Not saying that's bad because there are a lot of solid programs out there that don't make it to a BCS game, but if you say they were 2 of the Big 12's best you are way off base. I would compare them to Illinois and Northwestern. They may have a good year or 2 but can't maintain it long-term.
Agreed that Manziel is a stud and would excel in any conference. However, I do think SEC defenses are struggling this year and A&M's D is Swiss cheese. Mizzou has a good coach though and we will see how resilient they are with young Mauk at QB.

you beat a depleted Georgia team and got the big head.
Well I'll be damned, when Mizzou was "depleted" last year nobody wanted to talk about that. Mizzou sucked, didn't have SEC dept, etc. Where was UGA's SEC Dept??? Strange how that works.

Other than Missouri in 2007 and A&M 1998 they have both been non-factors.
Missouri won the North in 2007 and 2008 and tied for the North in 2010.
A&M won the South in 1997 and 1998 and tied for the South in 2010.

A&M has more BCS bowl game appearances than Michigan State, Indiana, Minnesota, and Purdue combined.

Speaking of additions what are A&M and Mizzou going to look like in the other main sports this year( BasketBall, Baseball)?
I do remember A&M sucking a BBC last year.

Fact is since we joined the SEC we have three more wins than y'all do.

that's kind of sad for Mizzou considering that was probably Auburn's worst season in 60 years. /quote]
Lame, lame, lame! If Mizzou was not SEC ready, what was Auburn's excuse?

A&M is a good addition- well see if they stay at this level. Texas running their program like morons helps
Missouri is about to get their Icarus on real soon IMHO

Disagree. It proves the SEC is a platform with which a program can elevate itself.

That may be true over the course of time but this does not happen overnight. One exception is having a player like Manziel who is certainly a game changer.
I'm sure no A&M or Mizzou fan ever expected to be doing this well this soon in the SEC. As a comparison, TCU and WVU are struggling out of the gate in the Big 12 even without A&M and Mizzou in the mix. From a depth perspective it just looks like the Big 12 has more quality teams top to bottom.
