Even when he's not he's just an incredible baseball player.

it honestly confuses me he hasnt been drafted higher than where he is. he isnt a power hitter but he has faced some of the best pitchers in the country since he was a freshman and is still one of the best hitters in the country. always good for at least a single sometimes

When I heard he was coming back. My exact response was "shite! Again?"

Duplantis is in a rare little slump right now. I don't know if he caught the HR bug or something after he hit some early in the season. Meanwhile, Mangum seems to be on fire. They're both great hitters. As said on Baton Rougee radio today, it looks like the only way Duplantis would be able to catch up is if State gets knocked out of the tourney early and LSU goes far.

He’s comparable to Ichiro with more aggression on the base paths, but with a slightly weaker arm. He’ll be in the majors one day.

That's kind, but Duplantis's arm is a bit more than "slightly weaker" than Ichiro's....which isn't meant to be a slight to Duplantis.

I’m talking about Magnum, I don’t watch LSU enough to see Duplantis’ arm.

Mangum has to be getting close to the State hits record. I didn't know until yesterday that Wes Rea currently has the State record.

Also, the record is held by Jeffrey Rea.

Mangum has crushed Ole Miss his whole career.

Can anyone pull Mangum’s stats versus the Rebals only? I bet it’s stupid and similar to Chipper Jones against the Mets.

Dups in a slump right now. Hopefully he can close the gap as the season progresses.

Mangum vs Ole Miss in his career:

Freshman year : 8-15 3 RBI 1 HR - .533
Sophomore year: 5-17 0 RBI - .294 (pretty sure these games were post-injuried hand that made him struggle that year)
Junior year: 9-19, 4 RBI - .473

So total is 22-51 or .431, 7 RBI, 1 HR in 12 games.

Due to everyone and their mother getting hurt that year, Mangum piched a game his sophomore year against Ole Miss. Statline was : 5.0 IP 2H, 1 R (earned) 2 BB, 3 K, 73 TP, 1 W.
