quote:The B1G and SEC are not sharing the money with anyone else. FSU and Clemson want to leave the ACC because they know what is coming. The Power 2 will break away to form their league, leaving the rest to be in the minor leagues. Each step is just an evolution to that end.
Sooner or later every P5 conference is going to merge with these two to create a super league that is independent from the NCAA. It's a matter of when, not if.

SEC should say no thanks

Everyone has had a little more than 100 years to show what they've got...a hundred more won't change anything.

Adding a game against a Kentucky or South Carolina that we’ve already seen multiple times and then having Purdue dumped in your lap is not an improvement to a schedule no matter how much yall try to pretend it is.
This season A&M has McNeese, Bowling Green, and New Mexico State on their schedule. God forbid two of those compelling games gets dropped so that you can play a B1G school and another SEC conference game instead.

Why not just say screw it..
The SEC breaks away with 16 teams..
4 Pods
Play your Pod (3)
Play another Pod (4)
Play half of the other 2 pods (4)
Play 1 Perm (1)
Play all teams home & home every 3 years
Top Team and Runner Up from each pod form an 8 team playoff
Crown the champ
Maybe setup a Champions Bowl with the B1G Champion

Every school wants 7 home games. If you go to 9 conference and an auto Big 10 team every year you are pretty much never going to be able to schedule any Big 12 or ACC team in a home and home.
A&M wouldn't be dropping 2 of the 3 you listed, we'd be dropping 1 plus the Notre Dame game. Same goes for most other SEC schools. They would not be dropping 2 rent a wins. They'd drop 1 rental and any ACC/Big12 OOC game and then you'd be stuck w/a Big 10 OOC forever. Big 10 in OOC/Playoff/Bowl every single year is arse.

And if you are like Mizzou and schedule four dogshit non-conference games (Murray State, Buffalo, Boston College, and UMass), then even a bottom-feeder B1G game is a tremendous upgrade.
Big 10 schools won’t schedule us. Illinois quit the series after losing the season opener to us 6 years in a row. Iowa has refused too. Nebraska didn’t want to play in KC. A decade ago we were able to get a home-away with Indiana, but that has been it.

The article stated that the B1G wants the SEC to move to nine conference games before they would agree to this, so the conferences are on "even" footing from that standpoint. So that's a win, an extra SEC game.
9 conference games is stupid. It should be 8 or 10.

It is worth noting:
According to rankings, there's only ONE B1G team as strong as the top half of the SEC.
That's a joke.

I wouldn't say every P5 team, but most will. And then those two power conferences will form regional divisions within of some sort and we will basically be back to where we were 20 years ago.

Why would:
South Carolina ..... clemson (and often unc or nc st in addition to the yearly game vs the sheep humping sister bagers)
Kentucky ..... louisville
Georgia .... ga tech
Florida ... fsu
.... why would those four want to add a B1G game?

This is a good way to get respectable OOC games, and still get the easy win.
As long as Mizzou doesn’t schedule Indiana and Arky doesn’t schedule Rutgers and LSU doesn’t schedule Southern Cal then you’re right
