Current NET Rankings:
#4 Tennessee
#19 LSU
#22 Alabama
#26 Missouri
#29 Arkansas
#44 Florida
-----
#71 Ole Miss
#74 S. Carolina
#78 Auburn
#90 Miss St.
#101 Kentucky
#108 Georgia
#113 Texas A&M
#181 Vanderbilt
It's hard to believe there are two teams with a worse rating than Georgia.
With the SEC's strong performance in OOC play, I think we get 6 teams into the Tournament. As a league, we only have a combined total of 11 OOC losses outside of Quadrant 1, and all of those are to teams ranked between #54 and #117 in the NET.... so basically no horrific losses at all for the entire league. That is a HUGE improvement from last season.
It appears there is a clear Top 6. Assuming none of these teams fall apart down the stretch and assuming Arkansas can grab a Q1 win someplace, I don't know if we'll even have a single team on the Bubble on Selection Sunday. I could see all SEC teams someplace between a 2 seed and a 9 or 10 seed, but no one having to play in the Play-In games.
South Carolina is a Wildcard though just because we don't really know what to expect yet out of them.
Auburn is also a completely different team now that they have Cooper. They started 0-4 in SEC play and it would not surprise me to see them win 9 or 10 games in conference play when it is all said and done. Of course they can't make the Tournament this year, so it doesn't matter. But if they were to really finish strong, they could end up wreaking enough havoc to take away a bid from one of those current Top 6.

i hate howland. he is a mediocre coach at best.

I don’t know how we beat Missouri by double digits then lose to fricking A&M at home.
Last night pissed me off. We would be in the NCAA tourney discussion had we won last night now back to an uphill climb
Now we have Florida Ole miss Alabama Tennessee coming up. Will need to beat Florida and OM then split Bama and UT to get back into the running imo

Auburn is going to be pissing in the punch bowl for a lot of sec teams late in the season. We still haven’t seen cooper and Powell on the floor together yet

I was impressed with Auburn last night.
As talented as Cooper is, he still makes some "young" dumb decisions at times.... a bit sloppy and he occasionally makes a poor decision to just lob up a 3-pointer 3 seconds after crossing half court. Yet despite all that he's an obvious difference maker and arguably the best PG in the league.
Once he grows up just a bit, he's going to be scary good.

Howland will disappoint you. I would be shocked if we make it to the NCAA tournament.

Ole Miss: We suck. Kermit is a sham. His team has no scorers. Fire Kermit. Bring back AK.

Florida plays when they feel like it. Catch them on the right night and it isn't hard to beat them, catch them on the wrong night and they can do some damage.

Seems like this has been the Gator's identity for the past several years. You just never know what you are going to get each night... however, more often than not, they win.

It would be great to see at least 6 SEC bids.
The wild card is that the SEC has some solid coaches which means a lot of potential for teams with a bad resumes to date to get hot in February and knock other teams off the bubble but without enough wins to replace them.
So far, there's not many bad losses but I think only Alabama (7), Missouri (5) and Tennessee (4) have more than two Q1/Q2 wins so far. Not a lot of room for the rest to lose many games to bottom tier teams.

Yes and then we will lose to Georgia or get blown out by a mediocre Kentucky team or a decent Bama team. I watched Kentucky get to the rim for a dunk or layup 7 possessions in a row and we didn't even foul them once. We have some erasers on this team too, they can swat your shite.
There is no other possible reason than Mike White is just too nice of a guy. It is the only thing I can possibly think of, and I think there are other teams that deal with this as well. Maybe not to the ridiculous extent that UF does, but it is turning into a players game.

Thank God LSU didn't lose that Georgia game. We're going to call that one a blip after two blowout wins the last two games.

Ags are scrappy and young, but still need an influx of talent.
By the end of the year the will meld a little better, but doubt they will scare anyone offensively. They will be the most annoying defense many teams face though if the buy in continues. Calling card of Buzz teams. Guess he learned that from Gillispie

Little surprised Williams hasn't gotten a little further along with A&M. I've always been impressed by his coaching ability and he has always recruited the JC's as well as anyone. He's just halfway through a very unusual year 2 so that probably has a lot to do with it.

We've built ourselves a nice cushion with all the Q1/Q2 wins. We might need it playing the next 2 weeks without Bruner and probably without Herb.

Bama comes down to earth on 1/19.

Yea, winning in Baton Rouge will be difficult if your guys play their A game. LSU is a good team.
We've played a bunch of good teams already, so I'm sure we'll be ready to give it a go.

I don't see how the committee can jusitfy using these net ratings alone to select the field.
It can be a tool but you have some teams that haven't played since December. Are they automatically out or do they put in the Ohio St rule like for football?
Let's say Kentucky finishes top 3 in SEC - do you penalize them because they played a non conf schedule that most teams aren't even close to?
Timing of COVID and cancellations is important - LSU missed a significant part of it's december games - what if that would have been several SEC games like USCe has missed?
It's gonna be a crazy selection show.
