Come on Bama, you need more than 1 run there in that scenario.

The thing that makes no sense on this call is why the batter was given first base. If obstruction is called on the baserunner, both guys should be out. Regardless, obstruction isn't supposed to be called unless it actually affects the play, which didn't happen there. But I don't think the umps called that correctly. It should have either been both guys out if it was obstruction or no obstruction and only the batter out. What they did makes no sense.
Here's the rule
So, if the call was the runner was called for interference (obstruction), he's out. And the batter is also out because Alabama caught the fly ball. It makes no sense whatsoever under the rule to have the guy who was batting go to first base
The SEC's ability to frick up pretty simple calls in all sports is amazing.
Here's the rule
quote:
"Offensive interference is an act by the team at bat which interferes with, obstructs, impedes, hinders, or confuses any fielder attempting to make a play. If the umpire declares the batter, batter-runner, or a runner out for interference, all other runners shall return to the last base that was in the judgment of the umpire, legally touched at the time of the interference, unless otherwise provided by these rules."

It's better when you just know before it even starts that your team won't show up to Hoover.
