Put this in the rankings thread, but it has since been un-stickied and thought it would be an interesting topic of conversation as we get closer to teams jockeying for seeding position in both the NCAAt and SECt...only went through the teams with NCAAt aspirations...not entire league.
When talking about best wins in the league...schedule strength, etc.
- 25 games against RPI Top 25 teams is crazy for Vandy. 14 of those games have been away from home. (3 more top 25 coming up @Knoxville)
- 13 of 16 RPI Top 25 games have been away from home for Arkansas (6 more coming up, 3 @LSU and 3 @home)
- Texas has had 10 of their 15 Top 25 RPI games at home. 2 others were played in Arlington, TX. 3 more coming this weekend against Florida at home (3 @OU).
- Georgia has had 10 of their 19 games away from home
- LSU has had 10 of their 16 away from home
- Ole Miss has only had 6 of their 18 away from home
- Oklahoma has had 8 of their 18 away from home
- aTm has had 13 of their 20 away from home
- Florida has only been away from home for 8 of their 18 games
- State has been away from home 14 times against RPI Top 25 teams
Record vs. Top 25 RPI
Vanderbilt 13-11
Arkansas 11-5
Tennessee 10-6
Georgia 10-9
Auburn 10-9
Texas 9-6
LSU 9-7
Ole Miss 9-9
Alabama 7-9
Oklahoma 6-12
aTm 6-14
Florida 5-13
State 5-15

Makes me proud to be a Vandy fan.

Good thread. Makes me wonder if everyone is sleeping on Vandy being a national contender.

Vandy is definitely a national seed contender. Their series in Knoxville will write the book on both theirs and the Vols futures.

Yea. Those dudes have had a tough road this season. Will end up with possibly 28 Top 25 RPI games before post season even gets here.

Vandy’s 24 games against RPI Top 25 is impressive, but most of those games have come against teams in the back half of those rankings.
Against the Top 13 RPI:
Auburn 10-9 (19 games)
Vanderbilt 6-6 (12 games)
Against #14-25 RPI:
Vanderbilt 7-5 (12 games)
Auburn 0-0 (0 games)
While Auburn’s 19 games played against Top 25 RPI teams looks to be fairly average for the conference, all 19 of those have come against teams in the Top 13. I’m not sure anyone has played that many Top 15 teams. Which is also why Auburn’s SOS is ranked #1 in the SEC.

Not the same as the topic...
Q1 Games
Home vs. RPI 1-25
Road vs. RPI 1-60
Neutral vs. RPI 1-40
The topic in this thread is about strictly record against the toughest teams in college baseball. Teams inside the Top 25 of RPI.

I was simply posting the RPI rankings, what is the problem?

I just don't think the bats are there to make a big run, and the pitching, while good, isn't great. They're clearly tested and have been a really good Sunday team.
I think this weekend will tell us a lot. They haven't been great on the road, and a road series win @Tennessee would go a long way to be in contention for a top 8 seed.

South Carolina so bad, they aren't even worthy of this thread

Y'all need to step your game up, instead of playing lower-level teams like Jackson State, Texas Southern, Northern Kentucky and Missouri.

Yea, sorry dude...Just wanted to list those in the hunt for the NCAAt. Sad state of affairs to see SC so low in baseball. Was not that long ago you guys came out to Baum for a Super.

Ray gets to keep his name behind home plate because he was key in building Carolina Stadium - now Founders - but that's it -
Tanner should have to crawl to Sumter to personally apologize to Bobby Richardson for effectively destroying Gamecock baseball from the offices on Heyward St -
