Home stretch time. Here is where everyone stands as of May 4th.
Reminder that this year the committee will do things a bit different:
- In addition to RPI, they will also start looking at KPI and DSR when reviewing resumes
- They will seed teams 1-32, not just 1-16. So, we should know who got the toughest of the 2 seeds but I am curious how they'll square it away if, say, the 16th seed is in the same conference as the 17th seed (assuming they attempt to do a snake-style seeding)
*Composite Poll Ranking = Avg. of D1Baaeball + Baseball America + Perfect Game

As bad as this team has been this year, everything is right here in front of them to have a shot at the tournament. Can't ask for much more than that in this position.

As of now, I'd project:
National Seeds
- UGA
- Texas
- Auburn
Hosts
- Texas A&M
- Miss State
2 Seeds
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Florida
- Ole Miss
- Oklahoma
3 Seeds/Bubble
- Tennessee
- Kentucky
Tennessee is likely going to need to a win a game or two in Hoover to try to reach the magic 15 win number in SEC play. Kentucky has a better shot at hitting it before Hoover but may also need to help themselves late

I mean, there is a chance mathematically.
But is there really a chance they go 5-1 against @Georgia and Florida?

You are saying Alabama won’t even make the tournament. Alabama’s RPI is #5 and they have the 4th most Q1 wins in the country.
Posted on 5/4/26 at 10:38 am to tylerdurden24
You forgot Alabama who will host.
Florida & Ole Miss will host as well.
8 SEC Host
4 National Seeds
the 3 you listed + A&M or State
All my opinion.

Nah that was my bad, I just left them off by accident. Bama is in a weird spot, either a high 2 seed or a low host. Probably one of those situation where if they go 4-2 or better over the next two weeks then they end up hosting but then Bama, Florida, and Arkansas are all in that schizophrenic mode of not knowing who they want to be week in and week out. Honestly think any of those 3 could make more noise as high 2 seeds than as hosts.

A bit of a self-own when you're not on the list as well.

They will host if those numbers hold. 100%

That's just it, though. I want to believe they're sweeping Carolina and taking 2/3 vs Ole Miss but the way their season has gone I could see them doing something weird and going 3-3. Being the lowest ranked SEC team in the hosting convo, I'm just weary of giving the committee an excuse not to include them as the 6th team.
Right now the national hosting picture likely includes:
3 ACC
- Ga Tech
- UNC
- FSU
3 Big 10
- UCLA
- Oregon
- Nebraska
2 Mid Major
- Southern Miss
- Coastal Carolina
1 Pac 12
- Oregon State
1 Big 12
- Kansas
So there's a spot to give but will it be Bama or does Florida do the thing and swoop in?

Alabama, Florida & Ole Miss are all ranked higher than those 3 in all of these:
RPI
KPI
DSR
ELO
When you dig into the numbers, it really isn’t all that close imo Nebraska and Oregon aren’t even close to the others..
14 teams show up in the Top 16 in each of the 4 metrics above
UCLA
GT
UNC
Florida State
Kansas
Oregon State
Texas
Auburn
Alabama
A&M
Georgia
Ole Miss
Florida
Miss State
Those 14 are hosts if the season ended today.. + 2 more

Every team wants to know what they need to do to advance. That is where LSU is. No one said anything about thinking that it would happen.

It’s more of a magic minimum number for consideration. No guarantee to get in with 13 regular season SEC wins.
For example, if both LSU and Vandy’s seasons ended with 13 regular season conf wins with their current RPIs, both would be out. Now Vandy is sitting pretty with 6 games remaining against the worst teams in the conference, but it also has the most work to do on the RPI side.

Auburn’s schedule is stupid hard.
