Let's not forget we had a chance to win it in the third game. We were fortunate it wasn't 0-2. Oregon State was the better team and we didn't have the arms to win it.
You dropped a foul ball to win a national title.

Didn’t even drop it. Chose to let the shite bounce. 3 dudes

We still had a chance to strike out the next batter. But it was a base hit and they took the lead for good.

We had our chances to win but Oregon State roared back like they had that year.

I'm not concerned with Florida State. They seem to always hit a brick wall. We haven't yet.

Van Horn in some of his Six CWS apperances, he has managed to overachieve in the post season.

Now the recruiting has exploded, he will finally win one because he will now have the better team. While in other appearances, he did not.

It’s just so hard to win one. Duke basketball had three top 10 draft picks a couple of years ago and a HOF coach and didn’t even make the final four despite being the best team all year long. Baseball may be a bit different since it’s not single elimination but you’re still behind the 8 ball if you even lose one game.

These loopholes basically allowed them to have all of their baseball roster on full-ride scholarships

This is categorically false and so far from the truth.

Duke has won five titles including 12 final fours. Winning a title is very hard but winning five in basketball is a lot. Considering it is harder to win the NCAA tournament than the CWS. Most schools would be very fortunate to win more than one.

You have to look at the trajectory of the baseball program from where it was and how it got started. It was bad in the 90s to the early 00s. Van Horn took a while but he was able to build up the baseball program as one of the best each year. We had very little baseball history program prior to Van Horn. Norm did a good job but Van Horn has taken us to heights we never been before.

Our recruiting is getting consistently better these last three years. We are making more CWS apperances and it would be three years in a row if not for covid.

Do I expect the program to win multiple titles? No but I do expect them to win one in my lifetime. Van Horn at age 60 may not retire until he does. The possibility is always greater if making the CWS is almost a yearly event.

It's 100% truth and everyone here who knows anything about college baseball knows it.

Another State fan. Out of the woodwork. So if Corbin says it, he’s lying too? What would it take to break your narrative?

From the Daily Advertiser:

Except at Vanderbilt.

"It's a largely private versus public funding concern," SEC assistant commissioner for compliance Matt Boyer said. "There is a difference between private and public when it comes to financial aid available. The privates can offer more of those types of awards. They can offer a full scholarship, but only use 25 percent of it toward the 11.7. They can deflate their athletic aid, whereas their public neighbor down the street might not have that much of the non-athletic aid. So, that's where it can get unfair competitively."

Unfair maybe, but within the rules, which just got stretched.

"Vanderbilt is doing it perfectly legally," former Mississippi State and Georgia coach Ron Polk said. "They're recruiting kids of high academic standards (for aid scholarships), then they use the 11.7 on kids who don't meet those standards. But if I'm playing a private school, I'd feel like I've got the payroll of the Tampa Bay Rays playing the New York Yankees. They've got 30 scholarships. I had 11.7. These private schools have it made with their baseball programs."

Blanket statements by both of those men with Polk not having any clue of Vanderbilt’s situation. There is no chance that Vanderbilt could recruit like Alabama football if they limited their pool to only those that qualified for Vanderbilt academic scholarships. He’s just regurgitating to his audience.

I’ll ask again, if Corbin says it, is he a liar too? What would it take to break your Vanderbilt narrative?

Well I saw every inning we played down in Houston last season and we wouldnt have sniffed Omaha with the way the team looked. You apparently think we are going to Omaha every year. You're taking a lot for granted IMO.

Gonna have to start calling it "Bum" Walker Stadium if the Hogs can't win a CWS.

They made it the year after without Blaine Knight and Kacey Murphy. Van Horn teams sometimes struggle during the season but his best coaching has been in the post season. I don't see any reason the team wouldn't have turned it around just like his teams were of past seasons did.

I don't believe we are going each year but we will be going just a bout every year. We will certainly not make it one year but it won't be a 10-15 year drought like it was before Van Horn.

You are way behind. The men track and field are bad. It's the women that have been relevant.
