It’ll be interesting how they handle the 2022 basketball seniors who were auto-entered in the NBA Draft as having exhausted eligibility and literally couldn’t withdraw. The 5 for 5 ruling came after they were auto-entered.

It wasn't about LSU genius. It was about ANY school signing these particular players. LSU was just the first. SEC schools were after several of these players.

If you’re a deer hunter in Louisiana and you voluntarily joined a deer club and you pay dues to hunt on that clubs lease and signed a contract when you joined stating you’d follow the clubs rules. Then two years down the road, a new rule is passed in the club that only bucks with four points on one side will be killed and each member can only kill one buck. These rules do not align with the deer harvesting regulations for the state of Louisiana, but they’re your clubs rules. Two different things.
Your options are pretty simple, and court isn’t one of them because you voluntarily joined the club and agreed by contract when joining that you would abide by the clubs rules. So basically, you can find another deer club to hunt with, or abide by the clubs rules.

It seems to me that there's no basis to sue as anyone can sign them, the school will just be then punished for playing them. There's no requirement against the player, just the school, if I'm understanding correctly.

They are applying their own bylaws to punish schools who play certain classes of players. I’ve read their bylaws. They have all the discretion embedded in the bylaws that LSU agreed to. They don’t have to defend their exercise of discretion. All they have to do is defend whether these bylaws are enforceable or not. Spoiler — they are. Courts defer to bylaws when it’s a voluntary association. Members agree to them. Their remedy to leave.
If the courts defer to the bylaws then why have they ruled against the NCAA almost every time?
ETA: Not a gotcha question because I am genuinely curious how or why a court would rule that obe voluntary association (the SEC) can enforce its bylaws but another (the NCAA) cannot.

The SEC is not acting in concert with the NCAA by applying its internal governance bylaws against its members.
It’s legally laughable to suggest an injunction they weren’t a party to applies to them. You’d have to show them acting in concert with the NCAA. And then get jurisdiction over them in that court to find them in contempt. I don’t see it. And I deal with injunctions all the time.

But how long is that going to be though? I would imagine that the attorneys for the players are working hard into the night and will be filing for new injunctions against the SEC and other conferences tomorrow.
