I didn't not give them credit either, obviously they were a good defense. They also had 9 games on the season giving up 24 or more points, 4 games giving up over 30, and 1 game over 40. They were a good defense and helped keep them in games but it's not like they were elite. They won because of cam, not because of the defense.

I bleed P&G and Brad Wing had a great year, but I hated JK Scott for 4. Dude was nails.

Burrow has MUCH more talent to work with around him. Cam willed that 2010 offense to a national championship with the team put directly on his back. Same for Fairley on defense. AU won a title on the backs of 2 players basically.
If Cam had the talent around him that Burrow has, the numbers would be similar with Cam having better rushing numbers and Joe having better passing numbers.

Joe is not better than Cam. See Joe last year.
Joe has an elite Oline, elite WRs, and a scheme that matches him perfectly. Joe is great, but Cam was the entire team for Auburn on offense. He didnt have the weapons LSU has.

Jamal Adams laid the wood quite a few times himself. Not many players could match his physicality, so to say that Barron is much more physical feels a little misleading.

Cam only played on eyear at Auburn. Burrow was more transformational.

They shut down Bama in the second half allowing Cam to stop sucking on offense. Obviously the defense had a big hand in the LSU win, and the defense was the reason they beat Oregon. You can't just pretend they didn't have anything to do with the accomplishments that year.

I have to be reading this wrong...
Outside of Fairley, that defense was pretty damn bad. Probably the worst defense to win a title in the past 15-20 years. Arkansas put up like 70 points on that team.

Yes, watching football and seeing how the talent levels are drastically different around each player. Joe is an elite qb and will be a better pro IMO. Cam was just a different animal.

dude...every player that plays at all on either sid eof the ball has somethign to do with winning. But to say the defense is the reason they won the title is nonsense. They were 53rd nationally in total defense giving up 24 PPG. They were 108th nationally in pass YPG, a very solid 9th in rush ypg, and 60th nationally in ypg given up.
You seem to only remember them having nick fairley and thinking that made them a dominant defense.
