Hypothetically, say Saban retires after this season. Does Bama automatically stay in the Saban line for a coach? Whats your prediction for how the SEC will look 5 years later?

Saban leaves
Decline imminent
Bama has nowhere to go but down

True, but only due to the fact that his run will never be replicated.
Our fans are going to be insufferable in the years after Saban

If by Saban line you mean we go after Muschamp, hell to the fricking no.

What he said, not so eloquently, was that Bama may try to hire a coach they think is "of the Saban mold"

I think BAMA declines slowly. That's not an insult but when the best college coach leaves your program what do you expect?.. The rest of the SEC improves (spread BAMA's talent out).. overall more competitive SEC west

Saban line of coaches being one of the coaches that has worked for or with him under Belichick.

They will be like LSU. New guy wins a title shortly after and can keep the recruits coming with the name but lets be honest...who the hell could replace Sabin?

What team in the SECw will take most advantage of a Sabanless Bama?

Auburn and LSU.. Auburn gets more in state recruits.. LSU might somewhat close the gates open by Saban into La recruiting grounds

So you aren't insufferable now?

Thats actually a great question. Is there anybody in the Saban family tree capable of taking on that pressure? I for one, dont think so. Too much pressure to "be Nick". I would think Kirby etc, would be very smart to GTFO once Nick leaves and possibly come back later once the next guy in gets fired.
I wouldnt want to be that next guy. Kind of like following the Bear. Extremely hard to follow a legend. Ask Ray Perkins. Bama may likely go through a string of coaches again for awhile.

But they might not miss a beat also.
Don't kid yourself, if they get a top recruiter, the machine grinds on.

LSU didn't fall apart after Saban left and neither will Bama. There is a great collection of talent there. They hire the right coach and they just keep right on rolling. Les was 34-6 in the 3 years after Saban left. I see the same thing happening when Saban leaves Bama.

He would be a good fit since he and Saban have the same in game fits. I think Bama stays pretty well at the top because without Saban's salary to pay, there is more to spread around to the players!

Ofc it's unreasonable to expect the same level of success after Saban leaves. But Bama will still be one of the top programs and will be able to draw coaches and recruits to the program.
There will be down years, but the program will always be strong enough to rebound to elite levels.

Agreed. Bama is still Bama. What we're experiencing now is the perfect storm: great historically successful program and one of greatest coaches in college fb history.
