I like to read. It's actually an obsession of mine. But, I read little of the tome.

It's a message board. Brevity and pithy points are key. Grammar and style are optional but encouraged, especially if you want to write a wall of text.

A very late familial falling out has obviously occurred. That said, I doubt any court will find fault in the family's actions based on the opportunity they provided.

Again, I hope it goes to trial so that we know more real details.

925 words is a tome or a wall of text LOL...only in Alabama. And why on earth would anyone waste 30 words to say they did not read something...just don't read it...or do...no one gives a frick.

What parental rights does a biological parent have when the child is already 18 years old?

If the 18 year old is in the hospital, the parents can make family visitations. Parents can potentially make medical decisions on behalf of the 18 year old (in Georgia, it goes "spouse", then "adult child", then "parent" if there is no medical directive).

There is a strong likelihood that the 18 year old is on the family's health insurance plan as a dependent (up to age 25).

The reverse is true for the 18 year old child. If the parent is in the hospital, family visitations. And potentially making medical decisions on behalf of the parent.
The 18 year old is also included in several classifications as an adult child of the parent (probate, potential life insurance, etc..)
