Nah…UGA won the majority of polls in 42, had the heisman winner, and won the Rose Bowl the defacto NC game prior to the 50’s. They were also the only undefeated untied team in 1946….a feat the university of Florida has yet to accomplish.

They could also reasonably claim 1927

Nope, your fellow UGA fan started the thread and said only AP/Coaches counts.

Yep, a UGA fan admitted that UF won 2 titles that can't be debated before they even won 1. Busted.

Yep. He said they could be debated. Would you like to debate our 1980 title? If you would we can then talk about 1964, but I don't think you really want to do that, do you?

Also, after he said it could be debated you said: 1980…..hmmmmm…maybe it never happened….

Now. Did 1980 happen, or no?

Anything can be debated.

And still managed to be consensus champions. Imagine.

Question. Would you say losing a conference game by 2 TDs is horrible?

1996 is a questionable title for the Gates

Their program is so pathetic and unaccomplished that they claim it without any hesitation or shame

But Bowden beat them fair and square and they got lucky that Arizona state chocked

Crap, dude. FSU beat them by 4 then they came back in the bowl game and beat FSU by 32. 32 points? I'm not sure you have a lot to complain about.

If it took UT 70 years then that means it took UGA 88. It's your logic.

Another Gator who needs to return to reform school. A little free education fer ya, scaly reptile........

1963 is Texas' first "claimed" title. UTx does not claim any title prior to that season. Texas does not claim 1908 and 1941, two years certain polls voted them #1.

1942 is UGA's first "claimed" title, although UGA was voted #1 in by polls in 1920 and 1927.

In 1942, Ohio State was awarded the national title by AP and 4 other pollsters. The AP title was awarded PRIOR to the bowl season. Ohio State DID NOT play in a bowl game and finished the season 9-1.

In 1942, Georgia was awarded the national title by 8 polls, thus garnering the majority or "consensus" of all polls conducted. #5 Georgia (ranked #1 for most of the season) defeated #2 Georgia Tech, 34-0 and was thus CHOSEN BY THE ROSE BOWL COMMITTEE over Ohio State to play in the Rose Bowl Game vs. UCLA.

Following Georgia's 9-0 win over UCLA in the Rose Bowl, the majority of pollsters selected UGA as the national champion. UGA finished the season, 11-1.

The AP Poll DID NOT have any more regard or prestige over the other pollsters in those days as it does now with far fewer pollsters doing the voting.

Now, MetroGator.....shut up.

He only listed years where Texas finished #1 in the AP/Coaches. Hope this helps.

Yeah I don’t care about that. I’m stating flatly that UGA was the consensus national champion in 1942 winning 8 of 13 recognized polls. The AP was 6 years old and not in any way an arbiter of a championship that it later became.

So you took that to mean those were the only ones that count? Come on, dude. I don't know if he would agree, but I count 1942 for Georgia because we were consensus champions.

ETA
Just checked back to his posts and he clearly counts Georgia's 1942. I guess that shoots your reasoning down, right? Admit that your dislike for Georgia made you claim something that is easily debunked.

If Texas only has 4 then UGA only has 3. YOUR logic.
