He and is staff had ALREADY accepted the job before the press conference. Hell, they had already accepted it well before A&M even played in the championship series.

I'm hearing that a lot of people knew about this weeks before the CWS, including the A&M brass. They could have told him to take a hike, but apparently wanted him to finish the season out (or maybe they thought they could change his mind). The dude that asked the question at the post-game presser was not a "reporter" in the traditional sense - he works for Texags, an aggy message board. Texags staff already knew Schloss had taken the job and their intention was to make him reveal his plans at the the worst possible time for him and his players. Schloss knew that Texags knew the real story, and interpreted the question as a big "frick you" from Texags (and he's apparently friends with the owner of Texags). Could he have handled it better? Sure, but I think he was really pissed in the heat of the moment. A more interesting question is why Texags sat on the story for a couple of weeks without reporting it.

Knowing how that site works, they were likely given an explicit gag order by the Athletic Department or else they would lose their credentials.

Never underestimate how incompetent A&M officials (who are hired by John Sharp) are.

There aren't many schools that have a relationship like Texas-Texas A&M. We don't really have a rival like that and cant truly understand how it would feel. This is like a miss state coach leaving for the ole miss job. Ohio State coach leaving for Michigan. Auburn coach leaving for Alabama. You just don't do that.

None of those others compare. Even Auburn/Alabama doesn't have the dynamic.

There is genuine malice between the schools and fanbases that extends beyond athletics.

Think Sunni vs. Shia.

I feel like this is probably more of the reason for all of the outrage, if the dude went to USC or something, it'd be no big deal.

Something fairly interesting was posted earlier. Apparently, when Travis Chestnut bunted for a hit, then reached base on an error Monday, the call to do that was not made by Schlossnagle, nor by the hitting coach. RYAN TARGAC, convinced Chestnut to change his approach as he was coming up to the plate.

Many LSU fans are decent people that care about a healthy environment for their sports teams.

Boomer White's interview this morning was fairly telling.

He basically said everything but the actual words, "Jim Schlossnagle is a piece of shite."

He didn't even refer to him as "coach", he referred to him as "Jim".

Yep. Here is proof that behavior is scumbag behavior. Can’t believe he’d let himself be recorded saying this in front of reporters: PROOF
