South Carolina redshirt senior defensive tackle Davonte Miles is no longer on the football team, a school spokesman tells GamecockCentral.
Miles was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, after officers conducted a traffic stop on Miles’ vehicle “for an improper display of the vehicle tag and window tint violation.” During the stop, however, officers smelled marijuana and conducted a search of the car.
Officers seized “20 individual bags of green plant material consistent with marijuana” and a firearm during the search. According to the police report, law enforcement seized the firearm “due to its proximity to narcotics.”

Folks from degenerate schools like Ole Miss and LSU might not think it's major, but I want him gone and glad Beamer canned him.

This seems a stupid phrase.

Lol, what? Why would you have your weed divided in 20 bags if you're not selling it.
Also, firearm with drugs is usually a felony..
PS - We shouldn't arrest people just for weed and guns. Should be legal.

I successfully made an argument in a criminal case for a client that individually wrapped “single serving” bags of weed were done for convenience and casual exchange (not intent to sell) and got him out of a felony charge. Course it was only a tad bit over a half ounce. Might have gone differently if he had a lot.

The whole vestigial academic year nomenclature is ludicrous. If it weren’t too demanding on the extremely limited intellects of the blockheads who commentate on the games, we’d be better off just going with first year player, second year player, etc.

Portal is closed but could be transfer? Someone will take him if he is good enough. Also…when these things happened before people blamed the system. Poor players didn’t have money. Wasn’t he in the payroll?

Was Danny Brown the arresting officer?

Was he an actual starter? Major contributor? NIL deal?
If he was a bench warmer with no NIL then I could see his motivation for a side hustle.
But if he's getting thousands of dollars then you have to be an extra level of stupid to be selling weed.
Edit- unless the gun was stolen, I don't see the big deal. It just makes for a bigger headline. The car he was in is also a deadly weapon and cars kill more people than guns do, especially by intoxicated drivers.
