JFC! The OP’s premise, explained for the mouth breathers on this site, was if a non-perennial top finisher (could have been any lower tier SEC team - picked MU b/c we happen to be undefeated at the moment) finished undefeated in the SEC, but there are only 4 spots in the playoffs for 5 Power 5 conferences who gets passed over?
As some with a modicum of brainwaves have pointed out, the possibility of the other Power 5 conferences also presenting undefeated teams is very remote. Hence the better question might have been, with similar records and résumés in the current year, does past mediocrity come into play?
Thanks for all the insightful posts that completely missed the point but warmed themselves (or more) with stupid MU jokes wasting everyone’s time!

If Mizzou beats LSU and #1 UGA, and then wins the SECCG.
They would be #1 in the country, and it's not debatable.

Best regular season scenario for Mizzou to get in based on opponents and schedules:
Georgia 11-1
Kentucky 10-2
ksu 10-2
LSU 9-3
one of Ole Miss/Auburn/Texas A&M be the SECW rep at 11-1
Memphis 11-1 and G5 rep
Would be difficult to keep out SEC and 6 wins over teams 9+ wins.

Is 2023 missouri potentially the greatest team in the CFP era?

Don’t gotta worry about Missouri and Colorado they don’t have much of a chance of winning next week let alone the entire season.

I am rooting for Mizzou to do well. Love to see it.

Mizzou does. Guaranteed.
Only if you don't count losses, starting with Oct 7 if not sooner.

Man you fans of schools who have never accomplished anything crack me up. Ya'll talk more shite than Alabama, Georgia, Florida and LSU fans do.
I remember when I was like you guys. I had never seen LSU win anything. I had this awful inferiority complex. So I get it.
Then I saw my team win 3 National Championships. Good times.

But so does Ohio St, USC (or heaven forbid Colorado), Texas, and Florida St.
They should go ahead and cancel the playoffs if that is the field. Those 4 are garbage arse teams.
