But things are not "on" currently at LSU with Orgeron at the helm. That is why I used the term "current" football prestige.

I don't disagree with a lot of what you say but not sure the right word is prestige. Maybe outlook for the next 4-5 years... but prestige is based on accomplishments and there is no comparison in that regard.

Whats the difference in recruiting someone like Burrow or a high school quarterback?

When recruiting a high school player you are (a.) recruiting against far more teams than you are when getting a tranfer, and (b) it is harder to evaluate a high school kid (especially a QB). Burrow almost (and probably should've) won the job at OSU. It wasn't hard to know he was a better QB than anyone on your roster, and you didn't have to recruit against the likes of Alabama or Clemson in order to get him.

Any team could've had Joe Burrow come in as a transfer.

Burrow threw like 30 career passes at Ohio State.

Alabama or Clemson could've taken Joe as a transfer just as easily as LSU did.

Yeah, that was my bad. I probably could've used a better word that prestige. I by no means meant that A&M has better history that LSU. I just meant that as things sit today, being a coordinator at A&M is more favorable than being a coordinator at LSU (and I didn't even bring up any possible NCAA flack coming down the pipe due to the sexual assault allegations.)

I just don't see any way that Elko leaving A&M for LSU for the same position.

Title IX issues fall somewhat outside of the NCAA's "jurisdiction."

How can LSU afford this and why is that a good idea?

How can we afford not to?

LSU's defense is asshoe right now.

A&M to LSU is a downgrade now defensively

No it's not. LSU has always been known for it's defense and one down year with a shortened season, during a pandemic does not make it a downgrade.LSU is loaded with young elite talent who the majority of them played this year. There's a reason LSU has been the winningest program in the SEC over the past 20 years and that's because of it's defense. LINK

But not every team was in the market for a 1 or 2 year starting QB.

But by most accounts coming out of OSU's spring practices, Burrow was doing better than Fields was, and almost won the starting job. If Fields had been a junior like Burrows, he would've won the job.

But they weren't in the market for a starting QB. Bama had Tua, and Clemson had Lawrence.

Every team in the country would've taken 2019 Burrow over what they had, only LSU and Cincinnati wanted him.

Fields wasn't even at Ohio State at that time.

So again, your "points" make no sense.

It isnt easier to recruit an unproven transfer than it is to recruit an unproven high school kid. Literally anyone can do it.

More than likely one of the idiots who think they run the team or want to have a hand in something to do with the team (boosters), will probably rob someone. Lol

So this trigger getting pulled today or what? Peilini to the trash heap seems like a fire gone conclusion since early October.

Maybe he wants to win Championships @ LSU instead of meaningless bowl games at A&M

The most substantive rumors have Bo Davis being hired as defensive line coach but everything else is just speculation.

I hope so and according to people who at least seem to have sources say that it is happening. Not sure when it will be announced. Supposedly other coaching changes will also be happening. Hopefully they don't frick up the next hires.
