We're already seeing the beginnings of A&M drifting back to mediocrity. Sumlin will bolt for the NFL soon.

A lot of bowl committee members have indicated they heard that the SEC was taking this position. But bowl committee members aren't really getting in the news very much for things like this. Maybe in the aftermath someone will actually put together a piece on it, but I wouldn't count on it.
I know the A&M folks will seize on the lack of sources here, but there typically aren't a lot of publications for things like this. But in the end, the Texas Bowl said they wanted UT-A&M, UT is playing in the game, and at the last minute Arky, one of the lowest bowl teams for the SEC, snuck in.
Combined with the reports, which may increase, it's pretty apparent what happened.

I thought so too, but why would he? He's making around $750,000 per win and aTm fans are happy as pigs in shite with that 7-5 record.

Enh, trying to decipher the BS behind bowl selections is like trying to find a needle in a mound of manure. You might find the needle, but you will definitely find lots of manure.
I don't think the Aggies are scared to play Texas though I imagine there is a lot of ill will there. Texas will take a long while to get over the Aggies escaping out from under their thumb. The Aggies will be annoyed that it will probably take the better part of a decade for Texas to stop leaning on B12 schools to not schedule A&M.
