Sankey’s interview on SECN was interesting.

He was very deadpan, and chose his words carefully. Stuck to the company line on “We look forward to welcoming Texas and Oklahoma in 2025. The conference and the schools intend to honor all contractual obligations.” Dari wasn’t buying it, and neither am I, but Sankey stuck to the script.

LSU fans have some good reasons not to trust Sankey after the whole abortion with moving the Florida game, but the guy is a stone cold monkey killer. I like him.

It was also abundantly clear that he favors pods so that more teams play each other on a regular basis.

When do y’all realistically see the new teams playing with an SEC patch on their shoulder?

They will join 2022.

Would be glorious watching the B12 shitshow and eating popcorn if they force them to stay until 2025 though.

Says 2025 and not one season before then ... according to the script.

But, with the cold shoulder Texas and Oklahoma are about to receive from the Big12, I think it comes in 2022. Sankey will find a way to make it happen.

Just posturing for the lawyers. Tu and zero U need the Big12 to dissolve on its own. It probably will.

Four seasons with two conference mates that don't want to be there is an eternity.

Finebaum flat out asked him if he felt uncomfortable, knowing what was going on behind the scenes with re to TU & Okla., his role, sitting in on the college football committee's discussions re expanding the playoffs. Sankey talked for a good 4-5 minutes & never answered the question.

Sankey and NIL will destroy college football. It will still exist, of course, but it will be like college basketball. Sankey will have to cap the pods or they will get too big and then you create breakaways from the SEC. Think long term with OU, UT, TAMU, Arkansas and LSU in the same division or pod....then with the lust for money look east with all the Florida teams that will no doubt clamor to join because this does not stop with OU and Texas. FSU will want in as will Miami and UCF. Then what about Clemson bitching to get in followed by UNC and maybe VTU. Why not? Would rather the markets of Charlotte and Raleigh Durham over Columbia and Charleston....You already have Atlanta?

Why not ditch the NCAA and cap the major conferences at 16 each? Then create a conference of Mid - majors like Memphis, SMU ,TCU , CSU, Northern Illinois, Tulsa, et al?

Arkansas had it rough in football the 2 lame duck years in the SWC before joining the SEC. Road games were brutal and fans would chant SEC at us when they beat us. Texas fans were at the forefront of that mockery. How ironic and fun it would be to see that happen to them now.

Now would be a good time for Saban to retire. Seriously.

I think most LSU fans blame that debacle on Joe Alleva

SEC network was the first to discuss pod. They didn’t just pull that out of their arse

All we know today is that Oklahoma and Texas have stated their intent to be out of the Big 12 by 2025. And that they prefer the SEC.

I still won't be surprised if Texas ends up in the PAC-12, when all is said and done.

What? Our BoR literally just approved the move. It's official. Now we just let the lawyers from Texas/OU/SEC figure out the buyout and real start dates.

Sankey is no Slive. He is an empty suit. Trust him as far as you can throw him.

But it's not binding. There is nothing stopping either Oklahoma or Texas from listening to other offers. Let's say the PAC-12 plays this smart (I know - far fetched - but hear me out) and offers Texas a deal. It would be wise for the PAC-12 to do so.

What's the penalty for Texas backing out of their SEC invite and going west ? As far as I can tell - nothing.

I'll say it again - all we know today , for certain, is that Oklahoma and Texas have voiced their intention to leave the Big-12 by 2025, and the SEC is their first choice. But the SEC isn't their only choice. A lot of things can happen by 2025.

You don't think that they already had feelers to the PAC and BIG?

They have to say 2025 legally, just ignore that date as it's not important.

Seriously, they have to say they’ll honor the contract but the other 8 teams would be cutting off their nose to spite their face to go all the way to 2025 without exiting the conference.
